Q:
Plot Twist: Elder Dragons are massive robots created by the Black Lion Trading Company.
Think of the money they make off weapons and armor…
Q:
Is this build viable?

A:
Several other users have referred to condi spam Thief buids as “Ebola.” I agree it’s poor taste, but OP is probably just repeating a term they think the community is accustomed to. No need to criticize so harshly.
As for the build:
(edited by Zodryn.4216)
Didn’t look at it very well cause i’m on my phone, but I think I wouldn’t use it.
In raids you want max dps as a thief, you are not gonna achieve that this way. Also don’t think these trickery traits are a really good option since steal isnt that useful againts high HP targets
It’s a pretty sub-optimal venom share build that you’ve given a very tasteless name to. =/
What does the ebola virus have to do with this build at all?
Aside from it being tasteless as previously mentioned, it also doesn’t even make sense.
At least if it were a Necromancer build it might potentially be a comparison worth making, but here it’s both crude and inaccurate.
If you want to run venomshare in PvE, just scrap everything and follow this guide, lol:
P.s. Just because the community may be accustomed to a term doesn’t mean it’s any less problematic. Five people kicking a puppy isn’t any better than one.
The build is meant for max weakness uptime. Sorry I didn’t mention that. It has 7.5 secs of weakness for every 10 played
Again, not saying it’s ok, but I don’t think it’s fair to gang up on the OP for “giving” the build that name, when he wasn’t the person it actually originated from.
It is meant for max weakness uptime, sorry I didn’t write that. It actually has pretty good weakness. Zodyrn is right in the usage of ebola for thief, the reason I used it is that it is very similar to pvp Ebola thief.
Whoops didn’t notice the first post worked. Using a laggy phone

Completely unnecessary. Other people will also apply weakness, and besides, you could hit 70% condi duration with Viper, which improves both your condi damage and weakness uptime. Why in the world would you try and build for weakness uptime in PvE with 9 other people on your team who can also apply it?
Edit: Also, bosses with unshakable get 50% reduction to weakness duration.

Here’s a link to the main build Brazil describes in the video. As Zodryn mentioned, you have a lot of condi duration just from Viper’s gear alone, which will put you at about 6.45 seconds per 10 second icd. You won’t exactly be re-applying poison every 10 seconds, but it will be close.
If you really want 100% weakness, you can just swap Brawler’s Tenacity for Weakening Strikes, which will put you well over 100%.
Yeah, you guys shouldn’t really get on OP for the name especially since I was the one who coined it. And there are a few reason why I chose Ebola as the nickname for DB condition spam:
1.) Excessive AoE bleeding.
2.) Excessive poison application.
3.) It is traumatizing to play against when used correctly.
For that matter, many people refer to things as “cancer” or “cancerous.” Pretty sure many more are affected by (and die from) cancer, yet we think nothing of it.

Actually, that’s pretty kittened up too. Personally, this hits me harder since I’ve lost people close to me and I’ve nearly lost my dad to cancer, but that doesn’t make people who die to something else any less valid.
But, ultimately, people experience this stuff differently. For some people here, bringing up these conditions in a sarcastic way isn’t difficult at all and to them, it’s just meaningless joke. If that’s how you experience this, more power too you. Just don’t expect that perspective to work for everyone else.

I’ve lost all Grandparents but one to cancer and my mom is cancer survivor and I still often used the phrase “swimming through an ocean of liquid cancer” to describe what it was like to progress through the League during Bunker Meta because some things just deserve a label that excessive. Don’t let every bad moment in life ruin your present and future by causing everything that reminds you of that moment unnecessary offense. Being able to harmlessly make fun of such dark things is a good way to cope with it’s existence so that it can’t rule over you with fear and hatred.
As for this it fits~ Spamming Poison, Bleed, Cripple, Torment~ they’ll be sick and puking blood from every opening, barely able to move and in pain while they attempt to, just like the virus. I’m sure many who run into the build in pvp find it horrible enough to call it that themselves.
Other than all that stuff, I actually tried to make a primary poison build recently and I was finding it hard to see poison doing more than Bleed but if 5x Spider Venom changes that then maybe. Wouldn’t Orr runes be much better than Rata? Idk if people just don’t use them because they’re annoying to get or something else. :P Although I feel like poison duration stuff kinda sucks in general and even feels broken.
Last I tried I just used Shadow Arts, DD and Trickery with Venom Share for extra damage and support and focused on Bleed and Lotus spam. If a Staff Ele is with you, you actually get Burn damage from all the whirling.

I find the use of those terms distasteful. It hardly ruins my life, so please, keep your preachy life counseling to yourself. I’m not sure what makes you think that you’re some model of how to think and feel, but I have zero interest in your advice regardless.
I swear, something like this was pretty much inevitable. So many people trying so hard to tell other people how to live their lives…

And yet YOU try to tell us we can’t say ebola. Who’s the one telling who to not say something here?
doesn’t weakness do exactly nothing to bosses?
(except very slowly drain the break bar for the few seconds it’s available)

I did not know that. Also, congrats on posting about what this thread was meant for!

I believe weakness works on bosses, but it’s half as effective. Some may be immune to it, I’m not sure. Either way, raid groups won’t be looking for a weakness spammer. They want DPS.
Weakness is great vs other players though, so you can try it out in WvW. If you do want max weakness uptime, sword auto applies it, and staff 2 does as well (so no need for weakness runes or sigils). Also, Weakening Strikes gives 10% extra damage reduction vs people with weakness.

Umm, you may want to read what I actually said. I never said what someone should or shouldn’t do. I said that I thought it was tasteless, but I never said said you can’t say that word.

You didn’t say not to say that word, but you did say not to share his “preachy life counseling.” He was offering his perspective, not telling you how to live your life. You responded in a very aggressive way that many would find far more offensive than using the word ebola or cancer. When someone offers thoughtful, well-meaning advice, you certainly don’t have to take it, but shoving it back in their face is not usually appreciated.

He was offering unwarranted advice. If I was to go around saying that accepting Jesus into your heart, it would be no less preachy. The absence of religion from his argument made his pushing of his flawed and arrogant opinion no different.
There’s a difference between having an opinion and giving advice. If you can’t tell the difference or feel that you don’t want to because of your own biased opinion, then please move along. You’re doing nothing productive here.
Oh and just because he was “well meaning” doesn’t mean that his actions still weren’t problematic. I don’t care how much of a nice guy he was trying to be, he failed at it and was pretty insulting at the same time (“don’t let it ruin your life”). Intentions are great, but it’s the outcomes that matter.

That’s so funny that actually actually got picked up…
All I have to say to those complaining about names and terms ….
Welcome to the Internet!
:P To a degree it’s fun seeing new terms pop up and people just run with it, just because it shows a bit of the current culture – even if it’s as moronic as “cancer” or “cancerous”.
Look at the Nerf D/P thread. may as well call the thief forums Flame Wars 2.
