Endgame thief viable in pve?
Its great in late game PVE. Some of the highest DPS in the game (second only to ele) perma blind, perma weakness, and stealth for skipping. But you’ve gotta remember the thief isn’t meant to be a buff/support class. You can’t compare it to guardian

This is flat out wrong. If Thieves bring anything to the table as far as PvE is concerned, it is 100% support.
Being able to skip trash mobs, certain bosses, and being one of THE BEST field medics in the game proves otherwise. Player get downed during a boss fight? Shadow’s Refuge him and get his kitten up with ZERO chance of the boss stopping you.
Heck, just equipping a shortbow and the right skills mapped for specific bosses will allow you to solo 80% of all the bosses in this game (slowly, but surely), or at least stall the boss long enough for your whole team to get revived from complete death. Thieves really are insane in what they can pull off.

^ Pretty much that. I’m a better “tank” than any other class simply because I can avoid everything from a boss even with permanent aggro, leaving everyone else to heal up or whatever.
Permanent blind/weakness and stealth skipping counts as support. Offensive support, but support nonetheless. Stealth ressing would obviously be defensive support.
Resident Thief
Thanks for the answers!:)
Yeah, these guys definitely know what they are talking about. I main a thief myself and will often pull off stunts other player think thieves should not be able to do. I have used the shadow refuge heal when champ farming or doing living world storylines or fighting world bosses to heal large groups of players while i continued to fight. Thieves have not only nearly the highest damage spikes in the game, we can provide amazing offensive and defensive support. Only problem is that thief is not very easy to play so requires a good bit of work to master.
I love the challenge the thief entails so I don’t play any other class. The challenge is too much fun so other classes are not worth it.
After getting tired of my Guardian, and playing mainly Thief now, i think I do better with it at PvE than with the Guard. Damage is insane. 7k crit from 3rd skill AA, 9k Backstab with champ over 50% Hp and 14k when lower than 50%, lower than 25% 10k Heartseekers. And all these with pugs and most times not stacked, because stacked is over these numbers.
This and a projectile block for 7 secs with a not that big coldown, longest stealth in the game (even that some pugs don’t know how shadow refuge works and if you don’t tell them they will get out before it ends), a projectile reflection with 8 sec stability that can be acess for just stability if you don’t need the reflection (just dodge and you will maintain the stability while), perma blinds for trash, and on and on
I think it’s a great class for dgns, but the bad think is that you don’t need more than 1 per party, and over that sometimes can be bad

That’s not exactly 100% accurate either. Some bosses can AoE, others have cleave that can hit you if someone else is by you unstealthed. Others can knock back.

At that point, it isn’t you or the boss that’s the problem…
Funny how no one has mentioned easy access to one of the most powerful conditions for handling trash mobs.

I think its funny some people forget how to read occasionally
Touché.
