Fall Damage Trait GM? Adept on all others.
The fall damage reduction trait is adept tier across all professions except thief where it has been placed at grandmaster tier by attaching it to Cloaked in Shadow. This puts it in direct competition with venomsharing in WvW builds where fall damage reduction sees the most use. The fall damage reduction trait should be decoupled from Cloaked in Shadow and moved down to the adept tier, perhaps by merging it with Last Refuge.
Does it really matter?
Like idk about you but who on earth even uses the fall dmg trait o.O like on any class let alone thief
I think that’s the point. Why put a kittenty trait no one will ever use in the grandmaster slot? it seems wholly rediculous. Although blind on stealth is also a cool trait, that too was an adept trait pre patch. 2 adept traits =/= 1 grandmaster.
Kittentrait o.0 Falldamage stealth trait is … well now was a mandatory trait for me as a solo WvW roamer. I can not negin too count the amount of saves I had because of it. It also had like a 10 second cool down. making it some very nice extra source of stealth.
And with the new wvw maps comming I believe I would want it more.
I can live without blind on stealth…. it just sucks they merged it with the fall damage trait which I really loved.
Been using fall-damage trait since I started d/d thief 6k hours ago. So I hope to see it back in acrobatics. enough stuff to replace there Anyway :P or indeed put it with last refuge seems really fair.. Falling is still an acrobatic move though :P

Yeah isn’t it great how they moved it to GM then gave it a 40 sec ICD? TOTALLY LEGIT RIGHT?! Not only did they make the fall damage portion of it way worse, they made it less worth it to take it! Just, wonderful decision making right there….

Huh, decision making? That’s new.
I’m under the impression that they just put all traits in a blender and pour it back into the trait lines.
Just like mass producing swords…no need for time-consuming forging, balancing and perfecting a weapon. Just melt the iron and pour it into a mold…and we all know the quality of the molded weapons.

PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.

And they failed at it. These two traits DO NOT compete as is.
In the new expansion, HoT, there are many places where you basically do a jumping puzzle in reverse, falling great distances over and over. Something that makes that easier is a big game changer in HoT, so the ability will be more important in the future.

Yup. They would have needed to do something seriously incredible to cloaked in shadow in order to make it compete with shadow’s embrace.
In the new expansion, HoT, there are many places where you basically do a jumping puzzle in reverse, falling great distances over and over. Something that makes that easier is a big game changer in HoT, so the ability will be more important in the future.
except gliding will make all fall damage traits 100x less useful.
You guys missed the part where there are no more grandmaster, adept, ect.. traits anymore. Some of the most powerful traits are in the first slot now.
“grandmaster” doesn’t mean anything now, you have to choose between 3 minor, 3 master and 3 grandmaster
as long as the builds are usable, i wont mind it being anywhere.

not my point but not really btw, it would have enoyed me on the first or second colum anyway
what i meant is whining about anything being on grandmaster is not the point, whining about it being on the same place as smthing else is way more relevent.
Elementalists were supposed to have EA on same place as elemental attenument.

Not stronger than 300 hp per second in stealth and one initiative every three unfortunately.
How can you guys forget the fact that it blinds when you go into stealth, with no ICD? It’s pretty good, and has saved me quite a few times. Especially now that it’s burst or be bursted.

Since the blind doesn’t reapply while you’re in stealth anymore an ICD may as well be the same as the duration of the time you spend in stealth, your reveal timer, and the amount of time it takes you to get back into stealth.
But hey if when granting stealth a blind saved you more then 300 hp per second and 1 Initiative every three then good for you! Can’t say I or most others have had the same experience though — especially now that you get 25% damage reduction in stealth instead of might in stealth ^^;
cloaked in shadows is quite essential for dagger offhand, just like shadows rejuv.
d/p doesnt need that blind so it outshines dagger offhand atm.
id put that fall dmg trait back to adept combined with last refuge. and merge cloaked in shadows with hidden thief. would thematically fit.
this would help dagger offhand to compete with d/p. and balance wise it wouldnt change much except pulling d/d and s/d out of the bin.
so…we would need a new grandmaster then
