To those who don’t know, Last Refuge is the trait you get for 5 in Shadow Arts, gain stealth when HP drops below 25%.

Agreed, I think around half of my deaths come from trying to CnD right as Last Refuge procs.

In general, we need to have the ability to choose to not have minor traits, just as we can with the major ones. I am guessing there is already a post in the suggestions section?

Yes,there is at least two threads,one of them made by me.This trait is terrible,it’s harmful it’s stupid.If ANet wants to put something useful,they can replace it with Black Powder(Pistol Skill #5).If they don’t wanna,i will be happy if they replace it with some /emote at 25% hp,like :“Oh kitten,i am gonna die”….

It is simply unbelievable how a trait on 90 second CD can ruin your day so many times. It’s really hard to fathom how it works so well AGAINST you and seems to time so perfectly.

I’d like to see this changed/removed. Possibly to something that enables you to use a blind but isnt automatic.

If thats too much then switch it please to a selectable trait and replace the 5 point shadow arts with something else.

I have been arguing it some time back, but now I must agree with this. Sometimes it saves my kitten but sometimes it instantly kills me.

Replace it with the Deception utility cooldown Major, imo. At least that wouldn’t get me killed.

Honestly, I’ve been playing Thief since BWE1 and I am yet to die to Last Refuge procuring at the same time as I use a stealth ability. My LR has only ever interrupted two attempts at stealth in that time.

Either I’m doing something wrong, or you guys are spamming CnD like champs.

About a third of my deaths are related to last refuge going off either while using CnD or even Shadow Refuge sometimes. I agree with the OP- Please fix it or if needed just remove/replace.

Considering it causes people to LOSE stealth a lot of the time it should probably stay if that’s what you want.

I love it, this has saved me many times, also resulted in my death too but it is worth it, once you get used to it and understand that it will kick in if you got the CD understood there won’t be a problem.

well the bigest issue is its cooldown, u cant expect us to count those 90 seconds just to be sureif it will kick in or it wont. If it would have no cooldown at all we would learn to live with it and hold on with that CnD or whatever stealth ability we might use at that time, though no cooldown on auto stealth skill might sound OP for qqers. I would be happy if it would be replaced with any other selectable trait from shadow arts tree ( exept power shots couse its a joke, it has no place in this tree and it has to go)

How are you able to know if someone is going to hit you while you’re in the middle of a CnD that will put you under that 25%? And please share how you can keep track of the CD timer in the middle of battle on top of that.

No you are pretty much correct, I like to think of it as, every battle I play with my P/D Thief at the start I allow it to kick in, I keep track of the time it kicked in after a I notice a minutes gone past I’d play a little risky and wait a couple seconds before I panic and go for my CnD, also knowing your 25% hp bench mark wouldn’t hurt you as a thief.

thats how i play it, maybe thats why im relatively comfy with it.

Why not change it to give a few extra seconds of stealth when you go into stealth when your health is below 25%? Since that would give you extra time to heal if your shadow spec or time to get away from combat if your not.

For some reason this has been bothering me lately…

Last refuge has saved my life many, many times before… But lately, I get last refuge right in the middle of a cnd that is about to connect and boom I get revealed and die :/

I would love it to be replaced by a combo field that blinds everyone constantly standing in it for 3 seconds. Much like the offhand pistol 5 skill. Blind is so underrated..

Ok, hate to break it to you but i highly doubt they will remove it or disable it for you thief players. Just look at how many necros have wanted jagged horror to go, be disabled, or made optional via major trait swap. We had a forum tread open for months open about him, many other smaller treads as well. We had instance boss’s being harder by him and still do. Look at Jade-maw boss for example as a recent one. Not only does his AI cause it to attack whatever it wants or whatever you dont want and still sometimes not at all. Anet even made it live longer because one of reason we necros hated that rodent was because he didnt even live 11 seconds, not the only reason but it was on a list of them.

So I do not think anet will change this skill, remove, or disable it for you.

lol Cheat Death anyone? Procs at 10% health but reduces damage taken by 90% for 3 seconds…

I don’t know about you guys. That trait has actually saved me lot of times. Please don’t remove it.
