So currently this skill functions very awkwardly and by having you attack your foe first, then dodging backwards. If the evade on this weapon is going to remain a disengage (unlike sword evade keeping you in combat) then it has to done by making debilitating arc function so that on use, the evade frame and the attack are all one swift movement. So instead of the current awekward slap onto a bankroll, why not make the skill some form of backflip? The user could uppercut his foe with the staff directly into a backflip so that the attack and evade are all one fluid motion. The skill as it stands in game needs to be changed. It is near usless.

The evade starts as soon as you activate the skill, so I really don’t worry about the first strike hindering me.

As for it being useless, I strongly disagree. It’s an evade and removes immobilize. That’s actually huge. This skill is very good in those sticky situations where you need to step out quickly and gain your bearings. The cripple is a nice added touch too, but the fact that you don’t need to hit someone with it to evade makes it that much better.

Not saying the animation couldn’t be better, just saying that this skill isn’t NEARLY as bad as people say it is.

I suppose I could have worded it better. It is not that what the skill does is necisarily bad, and I am not even commenting on an animation necisarily. It is more or less a mechanical flaw in my eyes. Yes the skill evades at the start of cast , but the issue is I am not moving the second I press the skill, it feels out of place doing an attackTHEN dodging back. What my suggestion was initially was for the skill to function in such a way that the damage and the evade both happen at once. The fact that they happen one after another hinder the skill for me. Allot of times it seems to happen more than once because I tap the skill twice then casting it twice burning inititive and setting me in a bad place in the fight because it functions awkwardly

The only problem I have with this ability is you roll backwards. It would be much more beneficial for a MELEE WEAPON SKILL to push you INTO melee range, not take you out.

Break immob, evade etc. Just go towards the enemy instead of away.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying. Wouldn’t be against an animation clean up.

As for it going toward the enemy, I think we have enough skills that push us into melee range such as Weakening Charge and Vault, and let’s not forget that we have shadowsteps as gap closers. I think Staff needs that retreat-defense on the set, considering it’s supposed to be a semi-defensive set. Besides, it doesn’t push you back that far, and you can easily get back in the fray.

i’d like to see it have a secondary functionality (like replacing the cripple with a daze, and/or giving it the projectile reflection from the autoattack), and maybe evade you backwards even further (like, as far as withdraw), now that vault has evasion and smoother aftercast, allowing to engage with it more easily after a quick temporary disengage through debilitating arc.
