Fleet Shadow Trait
A couple things:
This trait functions while in combat. If I start a fight, then do a run-by cloak and dagger I can definitely see the speed boost in action, and feel the slowdown when I come back out of stealth.
Positioning in combat is pretty useful, especially if you’re trying to line up a back-stab (or get back into range so you’re not point-blanking a sneak attack). And if you decide to bail out of a fight completely, the extra 50% movement speed helps you cover 50% more distance in your three seconds of running.
As for initiation, I think you’d be surprised at the distance you can cover in 3 seconds. Especially if you only need to get within 900 range for shadow shot / steal / infiltrator’s arrow.
Whether it’s “worth it” or not in your build is up to you, but the trait certainly has its uses.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
I use the trait. it does add more speed in combat, it’s just you naturally move slower in combat either way. It’s a nice replacement for swiftness since we don’t really have as easy access to it as we should.
I think it’s a wonderful trait, makes it a lot easier to move around in combat and position yourself. Playing a backstab thief this trait is really useful.
No access to swiftness? Have you just started your thief or just not really thinking clearly? We have a signet for perma swiftness, swiftness on dodge, multiple shadowsteps, thrill of the crime (swiftness on steal), assassin’s retreat (swiftness when you kill something).
I think we’re okay on mobility Considering my two mains are thief and mesmer, I never have to complain about mobility haha

Sorry, but wasting your:
“Heal Skill.” – Used to heal myself when I need healed.
“Dodge Rolls.” – Used to dodge big damage so I don’t die.
“Gap Closer.” – Used to close gaps.
For temporary swiftness, is a horrible idea, the signet has such a slow cast time, you can be interrupted then completely locked out of your heal for 10 seconds.
It can happen. However it is it not practical.

What….are you talking about?
If you think I’m referring to using your heal in combination with Centaur runes for swiftness, I’m not. When I said “signet for permanent swiftness” I meant our signet that gives +25% movement.
:-) The more you know ~

He likely didn’t understand what you’re talking about because 25% =/= 33%.

I’m almost certain Fleet Shadow is not working properly. I understand that it can’t go above 133%, and theoretically the purpose of the +50% is to put you at nearly 133% even while in combat, since combat brings you down to like 80%.
Even when in combat though, you only seem to move as quickly as ordinary swiftness would allow.
It’s easy to test. Just gain swiftness while already in combat, CnD someone on the run, and see if you move any faster. My testing says no.

Saem here, I even tested it with team mates in empty spvp maps were we go for dueling. Me in stealth with swiftness move at the same speed as them with swiftness. Meaning I can’t close in on him. Without the trait I move at the exact same speed in the same circumstances… Meaning its not working as it should be.

Hmm I actually had forgotten about that. A difference barely noticed but still, a difference none-the-less.
Today I learned :-)
