Some players have been asking me, how to effectively do a Withdraw, Roll for Initiative (maybe even Disabling Shot or Phase Retreat) in the direction you are moving.
Often used to:

  • Move around faster
  • Get behind your enemy quickly
  • To look Pro (well this one not really)

Here’s how you do it: Link

I’m using 1,2,3 just for you, so that everyone can pull it off.
You should however use other keybinds that are more effective to use in battle.
Feel free to subscribe, might post some other usefull video’s later.

In my experience, Withdraw or similar skills with casting times are usually pretty easy to pull off. I’m still learning to Phase Retreat (without binding Free Camera) and what i’m currently doing is this:

- About Face + Phase Retreat slightly later (~0.25s, pretty easy if those keys are nearby each other, just roll ober them).
- About Face again ~0.5s later. Using About Face during execution of a skill does not work and even though Phase Retreat is instant, i seem to need a small pause.

All that while holding W but NOT holding left or white mouse button, since you can’t about face otherwise.

When doing this with Withdraw i usually do the 2nd About Face manually during skill execution since i got the time.

Yeah thats exactely what I’m doing with phase retreat, as PR also turns your camera 180*. You are forced to use about face a second time.

But you really need to time it right otherwise you will just walk back to the direction from which you came.

I still think Withdraw is harder for some players due to the hidden layer of buttons that don’t work together, thats why I made an easy 1,2,3 keybind execution.

If you have any good suggestions or tips & tricks, I’m eager to learn them. They are awsome

Good post! I can’t be bothered to find more keys to bind so I rotate my camera for the same effect. The plus side is if I want to go at a 30, 60, 270 deg angle it’s just as easy. I do agree that this way looks the coolest though

Yes thats a very valid option, I’ve been using it (and still use it somtimes).
But somtimes, with a little lagg, you end up going in the wrong direction. Or when you have a straight bridge to use it on where you have to go exactely 180 degrees. Or when your camera is stuck in a tight room. Its better to use it in these situations.

With a little practice you can still do a nearly 180 with a camera turn tough
