Critical Strikes
Furious Retaliation – Gain fury for 10s when enemy reaches 50% health. cd of 45s
Trickery
Thrill of The Crime – you and nearby allies gain 10s of fury, might and swiftness when you steal

My question is where is the value of Furious Retaliation compared to that of Thrill of the Crime? seeing as steal initially has a 45 sec cd (-10% in order to get the TotC). Understanding that TotC requires you to use steal, but provides 2 additional buffs to both you and your allies with an equal or lesser cd. Other than the fact that spending points in Critical Strikes to get to higher traits these skills seem to be in direct opposition to one another with one being clearly stronger.

Any insight on to where Furious Retaliation gets its value comparatively?

hidden killer builds for one, finishing high durability targets for another. take a hidden killer build with 30% crit chance as an example. the first 50% of the opponents health may drop fairly quickly with the back stab, making the fury come in for finishing the job with a 50% crit chance before going back into stealth to go after the next target. also, 30 shadow arts back stab builds may not go into trickery at all so it is a nice alternative. my S/P build uses both furious retaliation and thrill of the crime to maximize up-time so I can have more valkyrie gear equipped.

It’s in a different trait line.
Or in other words, you can opt out for Thrill because your Fury source is coming from somewhere else, and take a trait like flanking strike for more overall damage.

Or you can take both for overall more consistent damage as a result of longer upkeep on Fury.

The great forum duppy.
