Guild Wars 2

I literally have never seen myself die so fast so I’m a bit curious as to what kind of build was being used. This is with 23k HP/2700 armor (almost full Dire)

All I remember was that he used Thieves guild and I don’t think it was Perplexity/Confusion because I literally just watched my health just plummet. Pretty sure it was P/D

I know thats not a lot of information to go on, but anyone have a clue as to what kind of build this guy was using? I have a thief as well, kinda wanna try it out lol

Well thieves guild by itself is a whole lot of dps, and your armor wouldn’t help against conditions at all. Most p/d builds are usually about sustain rather than burst dps though, not sure what he could’ve been using to drop you so fast.

I’ve bursted tanky people sub-3 seconds with ambush, thieves guild and skelk venom and a 30/0/30/0/10 build. Sharing skelk will inflict ~450 damage per it due to leeching venoms times 4 times # of targets (4) and something like 16 stacks of agony plus any stacks you add via shadow strike and bleeds of course.

It’s condition burst. Very high condition damage, activate skale and spider venoms together, and use main hand pistol stealth attack for 5 fast hits inflicting poison, 5 stacks of bleeding, and 3 stacks of torment, followed by shadow strike for another 2 stacks of torment, puts 600 distance between you, and continues to apply bleeds with the main hand pistol auto attack.

If it happened really fast it might have been a crit based p/p build with venomshare+thieves guild and unload spam.

d/d regular burst can kill more people per minute…BY ALOT. this condi burst is only good for less than 2 people per minute and totall useless between kills.

plz keep it in perspective or the devs will get a lil crazy and nerf more stuff for no reason.

p/d venom share with thieves guild can put on you 12 stacks of torment for 8 seconds which alone do around 9600-19200 dmg if moving
combine it with poison, leech*3 and 5-8 bleed stacks you down in 3-8 seconds if you dont SS to clear and SR and run away

if its dual you should be ready to his burst and you should avoid most of his dmg just by SR than you have free time to kill him
if he catch you by surprise there is nothing you can do

P/D is probably one of the least utility reliant thief weapon set. D/d is a lot more squishy as well, so maybe you should get a perspective.

i wonder if that was me :o i’m about to post the build i used, you can get 25 torment stacks pretty easily (and a bunch of bleeds) it’s pretty cool.

We all just need to go to a new forum and post builds and stuff where devs won’t see.

I think venoms are not viable becouse they are too dependant on luck and rng. Dont get me wrong. Venom build are strong, but only in one out of three situations. Thief iwth venoms will miss all his venoms in two out of three duels.

the build the guy was runnign was p/d direct dmg with givers runes and leech venoms…. its a quick burst down build and is only really good every 36-45 seconds. after that its all just sneak attack and CND.

i play p/d mostly in wvw an spvp/tpvp. thing is ….p/d is a nice defensive set BUT….it cant survive soley on CND…. u need to trait it for BLIND AOE on stealth….remove condis on stealth….and heal in stealth or its really not reliable defense for CND. p/d defense comes from stealth (condi versions) and higher HP. the build the guy in the OP was talking about has none of those bc hes runnign venomous auroa, leeching venoms, residual venoms, Quick venoms, and beserker gear….. so there is no room for high hp or the normal defense skills.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOooooo . . . . as i said its a 1 hitter quitter build. kill 1 opponent and share your venoms first…then ur useless until the recharge. no room for improvisation either so its pretty standard.

yes u can still CND sneak attack but without ricochet your are not really helping a group more than every other class could. its a fun roaming build and as i said…. hope the DEVS/ANET dont get the wrong idea like its OP.

if you could trade (in wvw) a 1 shot kill every 90 seconds but not have any other skills….. it would be strong but not OP. same concept here. he can burst somebody down fast….but after that everything he uses is on cooldown.

these are allpopped and on cooldown immediately after thieves guild. if he didnt pop thieves guild and then use all these….there is no chance of him melting the guy like the OP said.

you forgot to put an asterisk.

will miss most venoms on 2/3 duels against a decent to good or better player

• this is under the given that most classes have blocks,invuln, multiple dodges, minions/pets/clones/phantasms that are in way, evade skills etc etc etc**

so those of you making fun of this guy….. :P thinkg about it…hes right.

all a guy has to do is dodge 2x on an opening attack (even with thieves guild) and its game over for the thief. all but maybe 1-2 strikes of venom are gone and no utils left. 3 evades that are successful is def the ruiner of this build.

quick question what server were you on ? and what class were you on when you got melted ?

It’s a once trick pony.

Since it relies on thieves guild, if that’s not up, then it doesn’t do anything much.

Kind of like going full signet and zerker build, when everything is up you do a serious spike, if you don’t kill them in that spike the you have to turn tail and run, since you’re squishy as hell.

Survive? Yes easily if he run life stealing venom, if he also run Mug the guy will actualy be a holy hell hard to kill and its even worse if he start spamming stealth. The guy likely also has regeneration. How id run it would be 30 0 30 0 10 and id have poison duration additionnal stack and might on venom + life stealing venom heal on bleed and venomshare coupling that with the buff to giving myself crit might and switfness on stealing. Idk if seeing poison, mass bleed, torment, weakness, frozen, and immobilized stacked on your head as i teleport on you with steal and start spamming death blossom would make you panic but thats what most people i destroy in spvp live with when i run condition thief. Unless you got zerker stance or the ability to remove all condition in a snap of a finguer your prety much screwed good because behing immobilized for a while your already bleeding your health out from death blossom (death blossom main strenght is the number of hits/aoe bleed damage it causes) It can immagine a lot of situation where running heavy condition damage thief can make venom actualy dangerous. Venom however clearly are not made for physical damage thief who want to specialise into critical

even without thieve guild if i use basilisk venom the build is likely to be a condition bomb
