Yup this is the final straw for me im out. Thief play in wvw was my favorite thing left to do in this game and condi thief is boring as hell. i spent a ton of time and money getting my max crit dmg and now they are nerfing it by 10% and making condi’s better. GG anet im out thanks for nerfing the one thing about this game in enjoyed

Nope. I’ve never been a fan of boring bleed/venom condi builds on thieves, where I moreso prefer spike/power. I think that this is an unfair pigeonhole for thieves more than anything else. I think I’ll politely invest my time in a class that has more diversity than what Anet has been forcing thieves into slowly doing over the last year, sad to say. Oh well.

BUT What is getting nerfed (and it was on the Nerf Wish list) is the choking gas!
Also 2Handers getting a buff (via 2 sigil slots on them now)… so only our short bow.

Nope, I still find it to be more direct to thieves although that may not have been the intention. Thieves need all the dps we can get, so this 10% nerf actually hurts us much more than say a warrior who can slap on nearly any other set of armor in the game with power on the statsheet and still faceroll.
Thief relies on heavy damage and escape, the others damage might be nerfed too, but there is a reason D/D thief wasnt viable in spvp before 4 sec revealed even, due to less damage, we’rre dependant at killing our foes as quick as possible.

yeah except over past patches our builds were reduced by quite a lot, this patch just will force people to play one build that is left… i don’t see how it is a good change

PvE IS WvW. It’s the same thing to Arenanet, there is no balancing difference between them. WvW will use the PvE stats.

Condition is not buffed. Actually Shortbow #4 is nerfed.
Crit-damage as direct stat on gear disappears, they introduce Ferocity as replacement and be used to calculate the bonus damage on critical hits. This stat will replace Critical Damage as minor on gear. Final Critical Damage will be reduced – but zerker is to remain highest damage. There might be future gear with Ferocity as major.
Unspecified buffs (good things).
Sigils wil each get their own cooldown so you can mix two sigils with cooldown, but not the same (e.g. not two sigils of battle).
Two handed weapons get a second sigil slot
Runes are reworked and many will likely see improvements.
Various profession tweaks.

I think we can all agree with that. On topic, they did say that they wanted to take steps to address the rampant conditions in WvW when they were talking about the Crit Damage changes, meaning that they do realize that this change will make said meta temporarily stronger, unless they have more under wraps when they release the blog post about the overall changes.

And it should be the same thing. In fact pve/www/pvp all should be identical when it comes to skills/gear stat distribution and all that should be balanced towards pvp/www. Then all the nerfs they wish to do for whatever kind of damage they dont like ( crit damage this time) should be done by increasing mob resists (to receive less crit damage,, get crited less, to receive less physical damage etc etc…).

Actually many of thieves roam with backstab builds, might it be d/d and kitten d/p in valkyrie/zerker mix, maybe some cavalier in the mix too. And this will suffer more then berserker builds will.

Bingo and lets be honest they could possibly help this by making the ferocity primary sets they talked about but truth is they have the nerfed planed and this is just a maybe. My personal build will get hit hard running S/P while roaming. I think for many thieves unless they add in something amazing this is the straw. We have taken damage nerfs before but for us this is some heavy kitten to take in. To be fair warrior guardians any class that roamed zerker or needs to dodge to survive is looking at some dismal day ahead. PvE nerf I get but the WvW implications and the gear investment have me wondering wth they were thinking.

They may not even know what to do to compensate thieves atm since they said they couldn’t release info yet. XD
That change to sigils alone is significant. You can now use Generosity with fire and have them both go off on a crit.
That is a transfer of a condition every 10 seconds given they indicated they would also examine that proc percentage.
Sigil of generosity in one hand, sigil of Fire on the other or an Air and a fire. I think the damage on crit is going UP overall.
The combination of sigils that would be effective if the changes are as implemented as I think they will be will be mind boggling. Put a nullification on the s/d build just as example.

Actually, you guys are overestinating the impact of the crit damage nerf.
It will hit those tanky specs of other classes, which relied on slotting crit damage in trinkets way harder than it will hit classes with a full crit setup(like, for example mixing valk and zerk).
The biggest impact of the change will be ascended trinkets with crit damage.
Basically, opponents will not be able to deal as much damage with tanky power specs anymore.
As long as both run power builds, the thief builds will still come out on top. The problem is condition builds. Let’s just hope, the nerf to cond damage comes alongside the crit nerf, or I will run around with my cond ranger till things have settled for a bit.
