Help playing PvE thief
It’s not you, it’s the quest. I’ve seen a lot of Norn complain about how hard it is to beat that guy. That it’s nearly impossible even. And most of them have done a good 5~10 tries to get him down.
In the end it will come down to luck I think.
I was able to do it on my first try with engineer. Been a while, i can’t recall the build i used. Was probably the classical Net turret + Rifle, and kiting to oblivion.
As a thief, how would pistols+caltrop skill+caltrop on dodge traits work? His mobility was pretty bad iirc.
I’ve never done that mission, but is he a melee boss? Because if so you should be able to just kite him pretty easily with a shortbow making use of DS or P/D with CnD and sneak attack.
all is vain
pistol whip haste build might be able to do a good amount of burst while keeping him weakened, or sword pistol and just beat on him while standing him in the blinding puddle…. when you go out of init then just evade and run away for a bit before re-engaging or like Incurafy said run a p/d kite build and he will never touch you if he’s melee.
As far as I know norns get the summon ice worm racial, although it doesnt move it tanks really well so that might be a nice utility for you.
good luck

I’m not that dextrous at hitting those keys with my left hand anyway.
I can’t help with the quest problem, but I thought I’d offer a suggestion for this problem.
Not sure if it will work for everyone, but what I did is reset my Q,E,A and D keys.
Q became a secondary for 7, E a secondary for 8.
A became strafe left and D became strafe right.
I never really used keys to just turn, instead I’ve mouse turned, and it makes my first two utility skills easier to activate.
Thanks for all the responses and good suggestions, I decided to just level a bit more and get lvl 25 equip and try again (a few more times) later.
Caltrops, keep poisons /bleeds up and dodge like a mofo.
I would avoid backstabs in personal missions. Backstab thief is hard under even the best circumstances, and a one on one fight is the worst. If you’re going dagger/dagger, load up the conditions and run around in circles as he bleeds out a bit, then repeat. You want him bleeding while you’re healing. If you have a short bow, load up poison fields and cluster bombs, picking away.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
Hmm i did it on my first try, rolling a sword/pistol build, when i got low just when ranged and kited him with pistol/dagger
