Help with dual dagger pve build
Double dagger is the best single target damaging weapon set. The best dps build is 30/30/10/0/0, taking the V trait in shadow arts for initiative return on stealthing. This allows a nice fluid dps rotation of: Cloak and Dagger > Backstab > Auto attack chain > repeat.
Always try to stay behind your target for bigger backstabs.
Berserker(Power/Precision/Crit dmg.) gear is your go to dps gear, but if you are having trouble surviving, you can mix in some pieces with vitality. You can also use the 25/30/0/15/0 spec for more health and more dodging if you are having trouble staying alive, but with this spec you need to use two auto attack chains between every backstab combo.
If you are leveling, just start by putting points into critical strikes, then when you max that traitline out, either use deadly arts for more power or you can do into shadow arts or acrobatics for survival, and they both have great traits.
I should mention that if you are just starting to level, thieves can be very squishy and sometimes frustrating.
There is a different way to play double dagger that is very good for leveling. Basically you just find any gear with power or condition damage, and spam your dual skill ability ‘death blossom’ over your enemies heads until they die, throwing in random auto attack chains.
With this build you want to put points into trickery for extra bleed damage and also there are lots of ways to boost your initiative, which is what you want for this style. When trickery is maxed out, put points in acrobatics, it synergizes well because of the extra dodging(there is a trickery trait that drops AE bleeds on dodging).
You want to have caltrops utility for this build, it does a lot of AE bleed damage. You also want to have signet of malice for your healing skill because you will gain a lot of health from enemies sitting in your caltrops and from all the death blossom attacks.
This spec can take on lots of enemies at once and still kills fairly quickly. I leveled with this and didn’t find anything too tough.
The main issue I have with dagger mainhand is the lack of multi-target damage. Stx’s condition build spamming death blossom is one way of dealing with the issue, though that gimps auto-attack and backstab damage which is no fun at all.
A couple other options are:
-Keep shortbow on swap, and spam the 2 skill for big area damage
-Sword mainhand does multi-target damage on auto attack.
As for frustrating squishiness, I found that pistol offhand’s 5 skill basically lets you sit in the middle of a bunch of enemies and not get hit at all due to permanent area blind. Though of course with pistol offhand, you don’t get backstab at all. =(
