Q:
Devonas Rest 4 lyfe
Q:
Shouldn’t this ability remove Torment also, to fit the theme of removing conditions that cause damage? For example, some skills that previously caused bleeding, now causes Torment instead. Because of this it would only be logical for HiS to remove Torment too.
Or did the devs think of something I am missing here?

Previous experience shows the dev don’t think. This is almost certainly something that didn’t even occur to them.
HiS I dont think is intended to remove all damaging conditions. As it has never removed confusion which has always been around. My guess is thakittens intended to remove only standard DoTs that you cant otherwise negate (confusion you can negate by not activating abilities, torment reduced by not moving)

Torment is much more similar to Bleeding than it is to Confusion.
Devs didn’t oversight as necros feast on conditions got torment removal.
Hide in shadows isn’t mean’t to remove torment.

Consume Conditions checks for ANY condition, whereas Hide in Shadows only checks for Burning, Bleeding and Poison. For example, the custom Burning Pitch condition only inflicted by the Instigators in Southsun Cove are removed by all skills that remove conditions, but not by HiS despite the similarities between the Burning Pitch and the Burning conditions, because it has a different ID than Burning.
The devs would have to manually add the ID of Torment to the list of conditions removed by HiS where they don’t for Consume Conditions because it performs a blanket check for any conditions.
I still feel HiS should remove Torment and I would love a dev comment on this.
I agree. Torment is an unconditional DoT with bonus DoT when moving. The only way to remove it is by using a skill. HiS seems to be designed to remove DoT conditions, so it would make sense to include Torment in that list.
While Confusion can be considered a damage oriented condition, it is not a DoT, as the moment you stop using skills the damage stops, unlike Torment.
Personally, I feel HiS should remove Torment, but we’ll have to wait and see if Anet agrees.
I think torment is mor like psychical condition, and HiS removes physical damage.

Yes and whenever I am fighting Quaggans on my ele I go into Fire Attunement because all my spells are super effective!
Jokes aside, I understand that Torment might be different from a RP perspective, but it really shouldn’t affect game balance. As I mentioned, some spells that previously caused Bleeding now causes Torment, which in itself is an unjustified nerf to Hide in Shadows, which doesn’t make sense from a design perspective either.
psychical :P love it.
