I was curious how these worked for the thief. I saw most guides suggest scholar runes, but I am worried about the 90% health stipulation for them, so I was considering maybe eagle runes?

Edit to ask about Runes of Rage as well and how they would work with No Quarter. They seem like a pretty strong choice as well.

Eagle runes work fine. You will not only up your chances of a crit but will crit way harder when coupled with NQ. Note rage runes offer more fury but you will find you rarely lacking fury if you design your build right so that a bit redundant. If you traited executioner as well once the target hits 50 percent health your start hitting for 26 percent more damage which is quite sweet when the crits kick in on top of that.

I prefer Eagle to scholar in such a build as the enemy is at 50 percent or less health more often than you are at 90 percent plus.

yeah like baba said, depending on build, fury shouldn’t be much of an issue to keep up without rage runes. Now say you decided not to spec into Trickery with Thrill of the Crime, then maaaybe i’d say go with rage but even then, it depends on the stuff you’re doing. Fury’s usually pretty plentiful in dungeons and group events.

And yeah, i’m personally not a fan of >90% HP buffs just because on a low hp, low defense build, it’s too easy to lose 10% of your health. SoM can help keep it up a bit but might not work in all situations and I’m not a fan of builds that only work in certain situations or events. Easy way to see is just find out what 90% of your current build’s HP is and if you see it below that number often when you’re playing w/e you play, Scholar might not be the best choice. gl on build, mate!

Well I was not looking at keeping fury as a buff from the rage runes. It seems like it would be a constant 5% damage increase from the set bonus. That is what made me look at those.

Yes and that 5 percent a very good reason. You will have Fury up near all the time.

Thanks for your help. I think I am going to try out the eagle using the traits you mentioned baba. I tried out scholar and they are pretty fun, but I get hit too much for me to be totally comfortable with the set bonus.

in my opinion eagle runes are very good, and cheap ! but recently i was kicked from few fractal parties, because of eagle runes (ye, no comment). had to upgrade to scholar runes, and obviously i was afraid … staying above 90% HP in pugs … but it is ok, with good guard, and using d/d meta, you can achieve that quite easy
