How thieves become invisible so often?
cloak and dagger most likely (combined with at least 1 stealth utility and maybe the stealth heal)
cloak and dagger can be countered like any other attack dodge/block etc it also uses upto half the thieves initiative so after 2 attempts they will not be able to attack with anything but auto attacks.
Also keep in mind that once stealthed they are not invincible nor do they teleport, if you CC (immobilize, cripple, chill etc) them as they stealth you can generally get a fair few hits off them specially if you have some decent AoE’s as well.
If they weren’t low on health they are also most likely heading to your back so if you roll backwards then attack where you where just stood you’ll usually land a lot of damage on them.
While stealthed they aren’t actively attacking you and it also isn’t giving them any real sort of protection so if you keep your head about you its generally not that hard to keep attacking them.
I know how CnD works. I know there is a short period of time you simply can’t try becoming invisible again or it gonna be a total waste of init or utility/heal skill. I can’t imagine how some bypass this and become invisible so fast.

Currently you only get that revealed debuff if you actually attack from stealth, what some people do is hit CnD then wait the 3 seconds to not incur this debuff allowing them to stealth again instantly.
This of course means there generally doing nothing but 1 hit every 3-4 seconds while sitting around vulnerable, so the same stuff applies.
Soon they are going to change it so that they get the debuff regardless of how stealth drops.
Dasorine, I know about the debuff. I’ve fought against many thieves today and they simply vanish in the air right after backstabbing me.

they most likely aren’t backstabbing you is the point I was making, if they wait for the debuff to end normally they can hit you with cloak and dagger straight away and go back into stealth.

You are most likely seeing the culling bugg, thief backstab you and you cant see him, when you can see him for a brief short moment his reveal debuff is gone and he just stealth again.
You cannot stealth during reveal debuff unless using hacks.

The only other way is to chain C&D because otherwise thief stealths are utilities on quite long cooldowns.
If he’s going stealth really really often it could mean he’s using his combo fields.
Hardly irrelevant since one of the more popular thief builds that relies on a lot of stealth (D/P) has foundations in using combo fields. (Specifically pistol 5 dagger 2)

I don’t think it is related to culling. We were fighting at unpopular spot on the map for minutes. He was all the time near to me.
Anyway.. some thieves got to learn how to play with a new build or change their tactics in a few hours. The ~EVIL~ patch is right after you!
