How thieves think thieves should be balanced
1: Make steal interrupt casting or give steal an aftercast delay
this
and let thiefes kick themselves out of stealth when they miss their backstab while stealthed. imho all those kitten thiefes spamming 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 while stealthed will notice it needs at least a little skill to burst with the backstab combo.
1: Make steal interrupt casting or give steal an aftercast delay
I don’t think this is needed. Several other classes have skills that are instant-cast and can be cast while channeling other skills.
2: Make steal unable to apply any Utility venom (serpent’s touch trait will still work)
3: Remove quickness from the game or reduce the speed boost to 50% faster instead of the 100% faster that it is now
I support these. I also support fixing the rendering issues before trying to nerf further. A lot of thieves are appearing artificially stronger than they really are thanks to this little error.

I don’t know of any thieves that spam 1 while stealthed, given that it only provides half damage if the target is facing you… In any case, I don’t care about this one either way, stealth is short enough that it would barely be noticeable.

1: Make steal interrupt casting or give steal an aftercast delay.
No! This is how instant skills work, and how shadow steps in Guild Wars have always worked. Also, thieves don’t need any more aftercast delays than they already have.
2: Make steal unable to apply any Utility venom (serpent’s touch trait will still work).
No! Making steal’s utility worse than it already is compared to other classes is not a fix.
3: Remove quickness from the game or reduce the speed boost to 50% faster instead of the 100% faster that it is now.
Okay, I can support this. Quickness does make certain classes really stupid. Reducing the bonus from 100% to 50% would do a lot for balancing. However, if this is implemented, animations of certain skills MUST be adjusted.

This suggestion is utterly stupid. This will make the class’s specialty completely useless against good players.
According to you, backstab takes no skill right now. You must be high. Backstab takes the most skill to execute its full potential amongst all the available skills in the game right now.

Okay, this is the at least the third thread with pretty much the exact same suggestion; how about we keep it at that number?

This made me laugh.
I mean, laugh hard, really hard.
I think you have no clue of what professions/weapon combos actually requires skill in this game. I can be a pro backstabber thief with just half an hour or less of gameplay.
Give steal a 1/2 sec cast time. Wont that stop the Cnd-steal/mug pre-cast combo? simple (or is this the same thing as an “aftercast”?). I think that’s all the balance they need

An in moving combat backstab takes timing and skill, but that is not how it is most often applied so why pretend it is?

That’s solely on the shoulders of the target. Yes, it’s much easier to pull off a backstab if the target just stands there and does nothing. That’s true of most attacks in most games. Play better, and you make the thief have to play better.
Give backstab a 1/1.5 sec cooldown so using blind, aegis and to a lesser extent evade is more effective at avoiding it.
people who have no idea, please, refrain from providing your assistance, thank you
make backstab damage scale different with power. the more power you have the less damage increase backstab will have.
I mean a sort of soft cap on bs damage.
full glass cannon will be toned down but other builds that relie on bs will not be nerfed too much.

Just out of curiosity, do you play a thief? A pure backstab thief?
