TC, tell us more about what you were fighting. What weapons were he using, how much damage was he doing to anybody, etc?

Just get a ranger and use sic em…. Last time I tried to wvw I ran into 3 rangers with sic em… It was not very fun. Not even sure why I try to wvw anymore on thief…

Yea id have to agree with endersluck. If you cant kill a thief with 5 people then you should unnistall this game for sure.
Although if he gains health in stealth its probably a shadow arts scrub. Dont bother with them.

So…did this thief actually manage to kill any of your party members? If all he’s doing is hitting a dolyak, stealthing and then coming back to kill it off then you’re not gonna be able to do much about it.
A good thief will be hard to catch, an amazing thief will run you in circles all day and lure you off one by one for kills. If he’s not killing any of you then don’t really see the problem, he’s just being a nuisance if anything. And if you do go off one by one after him then that’s your funeral. Besides throwing down some aoes and hoping he’s stupid enough to stay in it…just move along really. If you can get some decent CCs going you might be able to keep him grounded long enough to kill him.

They can contribute – we’ve had one trolling us for hours and keeping out keep contested – so our WP was useless. I trolled someone who was chasing me so my group could build catas and destroy the wall right next to him.
But yeah, if a thief decides to troll you there’s not much you can do. Other than AoE/CC.
Edit: And the thief in this example apperantly killed the yaks, so he did contribute to his team. But if it’s any comfort: We’ve had a warrior doing that to us – we were 10 man chasing that guy in the end.

I have to admit i’m not the best at 1v1’s. I’m a warrior and was using a hammer to try and knock him down all the time but he just kept stealthing and managing to run a far distance before showing up again. I guess the group people didn’t have the right classes/skills to take him down. At one point we were contemplating building an AC to reveal him..
If he wanted to he could have taken us all down one by one.. kinda sucks
