How to handle several mobs at once?
For melee mobs, sword/pistol works great.
All you have to do is use #5 which creates an aoe blind field for 4 seconds and then attack with sword autoattack (which hits much harder than dagger auto).
Although using Shortbow clusterbomb at your feet is also good as well
Blind is the way to fight veteran and normal enemies. An offhand pistol gives you smoke and you can get blind on stealth from shadow arts. Smokescreen works similarly to the pistol and when placed well it will blind melee enemies and screen out the ranged enemies. There are plenty of other skills that blind as well. If you are set up for high melee damage you can kill things fast enough that the short duration of smoke/blind isn’t so important.
If you are patient you can kite a few enemies using pistol/dagger with the cripple from skill 4. Ambush traps and thieves guild can also help you out when outnumbered.

Not true. If u run tests u will see that dagger AA out dps sword AA (not by much, but still dagger win) and thats what we would expect since dagger is a single target weapon and sword can cleave.

That’s surprising, but I guess I’d still recommend dagger in pve since it has cleave, making dps much better on a mob
If you’re condition built, caltrops all the way. When I farm for Powerful Blood, I round up as many Ice Trolls as I can, drag em’ through caltrops, and dump the caltrops on dodge on them as well. It stacks, and in a couple seconds, most of the mobs have 15 stacks of bleeds on (you’ll need decent condition duration+).
They melt quickly, and even the veteran troll goes down fairly fast.
I never see anyone talk about this skill, but I’m a huge fan of dagger 3. I run D/D almost exclusively and I have no problem using it on groups of mobs, vet or otherwise. Learn to group them, stealth for regen if you want then spam d3. If you’re fighting vets wait for their attack animation and d3 through it, you’ll get an evade. Caltrops on dodge and watch everything melt.
Honestly I found mobs REALLY easy to deal with as a thief however this requires a much different build than your standard back stab thief.
I use a condition build hybrid build so I don’t get those really high crits but I spam 3 and catrops when I run out of intuitive I use roll for initiative and apply more stacks I get roughly 20-25 stacks very very quickly and it melts even group champs solo the best part is during the entire time you are constantly invading after words using d/d I wait for a cloak and dagger and pick off low health with heart seeker/cloak and dagger and repeat dropping argo every time and having time to kitten the situation. I’m VERY comfortable fighitng large mobs 20+ and Creating my own mobs but getting me to case me around an entire area.
If you have a bleed stack on them they chase you pretty far from their spawn point.
IE: Gendarran fields first waypoint I can group ALL the fireflies right there in one spot. I was able to farm 90 venom sacks the other day for my armor set in less that 2 hours hitting going back and from to the spider camp. It was VERY fast I’m sure if I did this for a day or two I could go into the market with a few hundred and start selling them. There are much faster ways to make money granted but for a low level this is a good start.
I also recommend for pve mob farming, d/d (hybrid condidtion) off hand Sword/d or sword pistol for the on hand blind. Don’t farm using s/p 3 against a mob it will get you killed more often than not, the on hand evade is good and setting up a shadow step sword 2 in case things to bad you have th extra shadow return incase you need to stealth heal/drop sr. You just gotta know how to handle argo, also while kitting NEVER EVER EVER backpeddle, Run left right or straight.
Remember mobs can not attack you if you are behind them unless it’s an aoe attack sometimes the best escape from a mob is to dodge right through them to behind them during their auto attack and as they turn around use roll for intuitive to jump back to the other side. This makes them VERY clustered and d3 hits all of them. Easy peasy farming

Sword/dagger, you won’t regret it.
just slot caltrops, whether you are a condition build or not.
It gives you space against melees, so you can take out stuff like ranged blind spammers or whatever first.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.

Wrong….
Dagger AA duration = 2.05
Dagger AA coefficient = 2.26
coefficient / duration = 1.102
Sword AA duration = 2.52
Sword AA coefficient = 2.9
coefficient / duration = 1.15
1.15 > 1.102 → more dmg
