How to nerf stealth(without actually nerfing)

Every other class can contribute to group fighting more than a thief can. So thieves are limited to roaming in WuvWuv. Yeah, “Its the only good thing we can do” Ive heard that argument a lot, and youre right, I agree with you, so thats why I know that thieves need to be buffed in other areas.
Thief does exactly what I want it to do. Coming from a game where you leveled different classes to do different things, I have no problem having a Warrior for PVE, a Guardian for Zerg fighting and Thief for solo roaming. It doesnt even take that much time or effort to level/gear something new either, so who cares. Thief is fine as it is. You just need to L2P so you come to the forums and cry less for nerfs. How about you go ask Anet for buffs for your own class instead of crying about something another class can do. The forums would be a much happier place then, and no one would have to listen to constant complaints.
Ideology: Buff thief so he can contribute to group play which will cut roaming style thief play by 60%-75%.
How? some ideas:
Caltrops : Kd players if they get hit 3x by caltrops + weakness
Daggerstorm: double the hits
Venoms: Make integral ….stacking is horrible (this is bc of venomsharing)
Pistols: total rework and needs to add burning some way
Ricochet: 100% chance to ricochet
New trait/skill: ground targeting skills cannot hit you while stealthed(grandmaster)
idk just some ideas to make it work in group play. not exacts but rough rough ideas.

i agree but i think we should have some way of supporting a zerg. ricochet hitting 100%…..aoe caltrop field doing more….daggerstorm being more affective….
not rework the thief but atleast add something in that makes us viable.

I think what youre missing is that this is supposed to be constructive, and your reply is no where close to being constructive. Ive got 2000 hours played, i know how to play i beat thieves all the time, but the disparity is that they dont need to die if they choose so. So the good ones run, and reset the fight, only to come back and start it up again till they win. Or they can run, knowing their opponent is much better than them. (which is a different topic, but YOU brought this up) Keep it constructive guys, thank you

I and many many others created the thief for the exact purpose of roaming. It’s a duelist profession, and that’s what people use it for. It’s useless for everything else? Well, that depends on the player. I do pretty kitten good in dungeons and general PvE content is a joke. In some fractals will the thief simply outshine any other profession, so that’s not true.
Remove stealth from weapon skills, and you call that a nerf without nerfing? They designed those sets that have stealth available to rely heavily on stealth to deal damage (with the exception of S/D). If they remove those skills they’ll have to completely rework the profession, and that ain’t gonna happen. I would love to see some changes to stealth, but this is not a fix, this is destroying the thief and making a new profession instead.
We have:
- Highest single target DPS in PvE.
- Best bunker counter in tPvP.
- The best skillset for roaming in WvW.
Please stop crying.

I think there are several ways to modify it to keep the skill level high but making it more competitive. Here are some of my personal thoughts on ‘fixes’ :
1) Enable most/all classes abilities that de-stealth (null field, traps, certain wells, etc). Having 1 or 2 abilities that remove stealth IF it hits would increase the skill in fights.
2) Perhaps make stealth a boon so that aoe boon removals or skills like null field would de-stealth the thief.
3) This is a double modification so hear me out on both ends. First make it so that if you miss an attack from stealth you become visible. Also make it so that stealth no longer has a revealed duration. It seems like a solid trade.
Personally I like the current system but if I was FORCED to see a change to stealth then I’d like to see something similar to my above suggestions. Of course they’re no where near perfect but it’s some brain-storming.

1. No, thief is strongest at single target, warrior is better at self buffing, there is a reason they ran 2 thieves in the new cof world record. aside from clusterbomb, however warrior can clear groups faster, thief got better single target damage thats just how it is buddy.
2. Thief is at line with mesmers in bunker counter. however we can do it more frecently

I doesnt see the problem in stealth, I see the problem in the thief.
ANet cant nerf stealth anymore, without to overhaul the complete class.
The thief is to dependent from it, special in WvW and PvE.
And a nerf only for PvP wouldn’t change the problem in WvW.

No I dont think this were good, but I support that the ranger and the necromancer (and the thief )should get a skill, with them they count or see a stealth thief.
(They are the counterclass against thiefs.)
All classes were to bad, special on guardians and ele, the thief is the counter class of this two.

But the thief isnt that what he should be, the max dmg is lower, than from the most classes and this with BS, good supportskills doesnt exist , a bunker isnt possible, the stealmechanic is bad in the most situations and has very less to do with the name, stealth is to easy to counter and the only useful skill, the life and armor is so low that every champion in PvE can downed you with one hit.

this is the “idiot” fix. basically what ur saying is to press 1 block skills or 1 aegis skill or 1 invuln skill or 1 dodge or 1 leap skill or 1 swiftness skill and you will have him revealed 90% of the time. yeah this is a horrible idea that was already shot down a 100 times. you have to think of the implications on BOTH sides. you obv dont play thief :P

yeah…most people dont see it like this. most dont play thief too!
