Maybe I should have specified. For me the teleportation spots in PvP don’t really matter since in my opinion thief does not really belong in PvP any longer (except for S/D perhaps for quickly capturing points). I was talking more about WvWvW (Taking out casters, small scale roaming etc.) and PvE (dungeon teleportation spots or simply stealing is bugged out and one is left with wasting time spamming the f1 button and changing positions until it finally works. E.g. Ascalon when stacking in corners I usually get that glorious message over and over again, I need the steal because of the damage boost of 10% and more).
WvWvW: Since the whole concept of blobs has to be reworked due to stability you should probably not quote me on that but as of now casters can simply memorize the spots where thieves cannot port and they’ll be safe from surprise attacks (except for stealth surprise attack but generally our options are fewer). I find this problematic since the role of a thief in zerg fights is taking out the casters in the rear, but since we can’t port to them any longer we have to actually somehow walk to them (in stealth) and that takes both time and some HP in order to reach them. Furthermore, they can, as already stated, kite us around since our mobility depends often on teleportation skills.
In PvE it gets less tricky. There I sometimes faced situations where I wanted to teleport away from a target but couldn’t do it compared to how I usually could. There are still spots left that one can teleport to but the most important ones are gone (only experienced AC and sorrow’s embrace so far).
While in PvP there’s so much improvement and I’m happy for it if it weren’t for the general PvP system of having to capture points and how it doesn’t synergize with thief at all. Except for decapping empty points, which hopefully aren’t occupied by a decap engi
I’ll take another look at wvw and maybe document all the spots that in my opinion are really valuable to the thief, mesmers and elementalists. Can’t really do PvE since I’m not a hardcore player, so maybe one of you could help me out?
And if someone could explain to me what makes theif viable in PvP and that no other class can do please do so, I’ll look forward to it. Thank you.
Try aiming at a close point.
For example, you can’t port up the Archway from Vale Camp anymore, you can however port up just to the side of it though.
Ok, it’s a bit slower from before but it’s not nearly as bad as you might think at first.
You’ll just have to run around shooting your shortbow everywhere again, just like you did back when you were a newb
I found most spots still work and many other have been added or made more reliable, just have to take a step to the side for some of the old ones that are now slightly different.
Don’t know about any PvE though… I completely neglect that side of the game, hehe.

That might be a bi unclear…
I mean, try aiming at a point, close to where you would aim prior to this update. It’s likely that it has only moved over about an inch.

Just experienced “No valid path to target” when fighting an enemy on certain spots in WvW. Spammed my steal and it wouldn’t let me even though I’m seriously next to the person I’m fighting with nothing obstructing my path. :c

Improvisation only increases your damage when you actually have something in your hand. Just using steal won’t trigger the damage bonus of that trait.
i can’t shadow step to a foe in the silverwastes which is a bit underneath and in range.
e. g. you are in one of these lanes on the upper side but you can not port to a foe which is in the mid of that lane. i don’t know what others did and how the abused it but this is just ridicilous.
