Having a tough time deciding on what race to make my theif, solely based on how their animations of skills and such are? Maybe even a charr? Dunno.. would be nice if their armor looked noticeable as well, unlike the asura.

I’m playing a Sylvari, and I love it, but the animations/run speed/etc feels identical to one of my human characters. In fact, I’m 99.99% sure that they are.

Personally, I think that you should go check out the racial medium armour for the two different races and see which you like the best. The Sylvari racial armour is all leafy and stuff so not a lot of people like it. That being said, if you like it, then go for a Sylvari, we’re awesome! :P

Oh, and when you make your character, choose Anonymity for the starter hood and then keep it in your bank account NO MATTER WHAT. You’ll find out later on in the game that there are practically no hoods for medium armour (besides the Order of Whispers hood, to name like, one of maybe three or something) and you’ll be kicking yourself if you can’t just transmute your level 0 starter hood into something awesome.

Go human. Thief lacks of condition removal skills, and the racial Prayer to Kormir help to mitigate this weakness

Human Thief seems natural to me. A Sylvari would fit better in my opinion as an Elementalist or a Mesmer (regardless of racials).

The personal story-line for a poor human fits the idea of a thief better than any of the Sylvari’s.

And while it may not be optimal, Take Root does have its uses…

I just went with what I think looks better, which was Sylvari. This was based on taking a Sylvari and Human to The Mists just to get an idea.

It’s a totally subjective decision from my perspective because I’d rather play something I enjoy looking at vs. some racial skill I do/don’t have.
