I will try to be brief.Thieves even though they dont have a large presence in wvw zergs (apart from guilds with harass squads) they seem to have literally everything in their kit in order to outclass any other class in small roaming groups and especially in solo play.Great survivability(stealth,constant condition removal), undoubtedly great burst damage and huge mobility.How is this class supposed to be balanced when they have everything at their disposal and all at once?No troll repsonses.I am just stating the obvious.

I know right! It’s almost as if they should run entire zergs of Thieves since they are so OP

All that AoE damage – All those invulnerabilities – All that stability

Chances that you actually play thief is very close to 0%
Chances that you are a new player who constantly rages because thieves own you on a daily basis is very close to 100%
Chances that this thread actually goes anywhere is in fact 0%

Thief in stealth are super predictable. If you find them overpowered, its a L2P issue. I’m not saying its 100% balanced, but that aspect of the game is pretty good right now.

Thieves suffer from low HP, unreliable condition removal, and almost complete lack of access to stability. This makes a “made” thief a dead thief in most cases, and it makes us pretty terrible group fighters in most situations.

Thieves are good at roaming, decent at 1v1s against certain specs, and quite good at choosing favorable engagements.

The last point is why theives get such a bad rap. Play a thief for a bit and you’ll come to understand that thieves aren’t the be-all-end-all win machine you think they are, but rather that when a thief completely owns someone in the face, it is because they chose that fight very carefully.

That’s an intended feature of the class. Without the ability to easily disengage and choose engagements, thieves don’t have the sustainability to last through unfavorable matchups or team fights.

Go play a thief for a bit and you’ll understand much, much better how to counter them.

Yes to the burst damage, but no to the other two.

The burst damage is that high because they dont have the other two.

The reason why people play other classes is obvious.

Thief is so op, its like playing with cheats. You just cannot loose against anything, and good players can pull a 1 vs 15 (youtube has the vids).

The problem is, that playing thief is so easy, that people are getting bored (tossing a coin is more complex), so they play different classes.

And there is a gentlemans agreement. If everyone would play a thief, the game would be boring, so people play other classes to save esport.
