So i recently dinged 80 got my exotic zerk rdy and gemed up, and i figured i try the next step and head into CoF. BIG! mistake, i dont know how you thiefs do it, but i got wrecked and got myself kicked for the first time playing this game.

I guess i should just stick to my noob friendly warrior.

If you are used to Warrior then that makes sense. Thieves cannot be played like a warrior: they will die fast. And this is because thieves just cannot take damage. You need to learn to survive by avoiding damage, so learn to use your blinds, evades, and dodges because you will fail if you don’t.

We can give you tips if you explain what you were dying to. Otherwise, you just need to practice.

Question, did you get kicked for dying a lot or did you get kicked for killing the Flame Acolyte in P2 without waiting for everyone to sync up.

Well i died throughout the dungeon but i guess they had enough when i couldt handle the mobs that spawns under the shield, where you need to stand in each one, P1 ofc right before the last boss. Im using D/D cause well i think thats the coolest combo :P I mean i can survive in their as a zerk guardian somewhat cause of shields and blinds.

Simple, you just need to stay by the pillar. Use cloak and dagger, and use it again when you are out of stealth. The agro will go to your teammates.

What a team player…

If you’re planning on doing dungeons with thief, you should get used to swapping dagger/dagger out for sword/pistol. If you’re using signet of malice, you’ll pretty much be immortal against regular mobs with pistol whip, especially if there’s more than 1.

Use sword/pistol for regular mobs and use dagger/dagger for bosses. If you’re in a pug, you can just have both sets on weapon swap. If you’re in a coordinated group, have your second set be short bow so you can blast finish fire fields, and manually swap dagger/dagger and sword/pistol when needed.

Get experience friends to guide you you’ll have a better time trust me. I would get on and PM you but unfortunately I can’t due to up coming exams. Once you’re with your buds ask if they could guide you through all the dungeons. If all else fail, just watch youtube vids

Yup always have a sword/pistol in your inventory.

D/D is for dmg

S/P is for surviability. Don’t be after to use in those spot where you don’t have enough dodge to survive like Alpha in CoE or under the shield in CoF.

I usually run with my wvw setup = 06620 (D/D thief)
And in path 1 (that’s the one with the door, right?) I swap to thieves guild and open the door – I actually think that’s the best thing thieves can do there, just takes a few seconds to open the door.
Otherwise equip signet of malice and daggerstorm if you have to be under the shields. And equip shortbow as your second weapon set so you can hit a lot of mobs at once with cluster bomb. But don’t forget to switch your skills back to more useful skills when you know there’s a single boss ahead, it’s difficult to hit him often enough to make signet of malice work.
I’m slowly trying to get away from my SA learning wheel but that might take a while, especially since I’m not really a team player.

Thief is pretty simple in dungeons, full zerk gear Sword/Pistol, signet of malice and if you want you can also add the critical strikes trait that heals you on crits ( I forgot the name, invigorating precision if Im not mistaking) and spam pistol Whip
