Used to main thief way back. Got addicted to mesmer shortly after and recognized that a good thief will kill a good mesmer. Easy, straight forward. Golden rule kinda thing, you know?

I have yet to have a decent duel with any thief (p/d d/d d/p s/d s/p etc etc) for a long time now. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t understand why anyone would roll one (no offense). I want to use my thief again, but when I do, I do so much less than on my Mesmer (less damage, less uptime, less disruption, less stomps). Anyone know when Thief class will get buffed?

This is a legitimate thread. When I left, 4 months or so ago, I could at least use my s/d p/d combo build and have a reason. Now if I use it, I NEVER go into s/d. I tried d/p again but thats pointless. I’m back to d/d…and I do so very little. My Deathshroud necro does the same damage ~per life blast~ as I do in a backstab. Again, will Thief ever be worth running again? I miss mine q.q

Oh, before I have to edit this in- this is PvE content and SPvP. WvW idk, need ascended junk.

I was making fun of your title…I’m sorry it was a joke, a bad one.

Welcome to the Thief’s forum.

The fact that you play better on mesmer probably just has to do with your playstyle. I have more games and hours on mesmer than thief, but thief just fits my style so well, so I always play much better on my thief.

There are changes coming to to the trait system as a whole, some are considered to be buffs ( of astronomical proportions by some). So yeah we’re getting buffs.

Will it be enough changes to bring you back? Not sure.

@Zero- Sweet. Might be able to pick it back up. As it stands, I do more power on Necro, more tricks on Mesmer, and more condi on my Ele. Light classes for days >.>

@Kaikalii- Not just playing better, but to the point where I have to restrain laughter when a Thief in Spvp tries to nuke me. =/ That’s why I feel like a jerk. I don’t enjoy it, but it makes me realize that at a certain point a class can ~literally~ be nerfed into dust.

But you made it so easy with that title.

Back to topic, if you are already playing Mesmer well, it would be hard to readjust back to Thief. It’s not impossible but hard.

Also, there remains a fact that other professions are getting even better changes than Thief — not to mention that the Dev is clueless when it comes to Thief.

So, it’s a waiting game. We want to know what stats we get from gear (what stats others get from their gear) and what would be our Elite Spec and new weapon.

Just like you, I have been playing more with other professions (mainly with the Guardian) than I’m playing with my Thief. The preview did intrigue me but I’m staying with my Guardian for now.

Yeah, it’s a bit too early to tell.

There will be the trait changes coming before HoT.
HoT will have elite specs.
And hopefully after HoT a re-balance due to the elite specs. (Might not happen though)

So, stick to whatever it is you’re playing now till at least the expansion.

Besides, everyone will be rolling a Revenant.

And I’ll be slaughtering them by the truck load. Aaaaah, can’t wait.

I am just now starting to play GW2 again after a long break, but even I can tell you that there will always be an overwhelming amount of bad thief players. Every video of a good thief showing off amazing feats of skillful play will spawn hundreds of bad players who think just rolling a thief will turn them and into batman.

It’s the nature of every stealth class in every MMO.

Just because you haven’t run into a good thief doesn’t mean they don’t exist, or that the class is bad.

Well, there are a lot of bad thieves out there. It’s a very technical class, so players who are newer to it can have a hard time.
Personally, I’m never particularly afraid of a Mesmer. When I fight one, it’s generally a skill match up, not a profession one. Perhaps you’ve just been against some particularly poor thief players.

I am afraid of mesmers, very afraid. The majority are harmless, but there are those that you don’t see, then there is a flash of pink around me and I am downed and jealous of that burst.

Buffs incoming that may make dealing with other classes more effective. If they actually get shipped amidst the ridiculous fear of Teef OP by people who main classes that are just as bursty.
