I love scrappers
You can dodge it. We have a lot of dodges.
Is it actually dodgeable? I didn’t look into it a ton yet as I don’t run SR anymore cause S/D works fine without it but I didn’t think the gyro reveal could be dodged. If it can, that’s really nice to know.
Reveal itself is managable, the problem is that revs and scrappers have it pretty much per default. Then add all the aoe, ccs, invuls, heals from their side… not to mention dmg… yeah….
[Teef] guild :>
It’s very easy to dodge it, just look for the animation and/or wave that is sent out.
what annoys me most about scrapper is that they come at you with 5 might stacks, get sneak gyro out, after 5 seconds they have 25 might stacks swiftness/fury/protection….
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge
I kinda wish we had a reveal ourselves. Fighting scrappers I get annoy by how powerful sneak gyro can be.
Why is that thing 20sec CD and is instant cast ( allow to be used while CC, can use it as an emergency way to prevent stomps on their team mates ) it is infuriating.
Even when I play my own engi I feel like it’s too good. I hope for balance sake they had a cast time to the gyro itself in the next balance patch.

Scapper = Block, Block, Block, Stealth, Block, Block, Block, Invuln, Invuln, Invuln, Stealth, rinse and repeat.
Bunker Scrappers at least in WvW take 3+ player to bring down and are very dangerous while doing so. Putting a reflect, lightning field that stuns, leaping attack and a block on a single weapon with range was an OP situation waiting to happen. The only thing holding them back is that there are 3+ other Elite specs that are just as bunker with more DPS/Utility.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I love how slick shoes nearly always guarantees immediate death.

You forgot the evade evade evade part.
Thanks, again, Grouch !
I am honestly done with this game, this game didn’t need a profession with aoe reveal on a 20 second cooldown, and a skill that single handedly makes engineer a better stealth profession than thief (with better team support), thief has no class identity anymore and nothing other professions can’t do better (SB 5 is barely better than all the mobility revenant and the other elites got and they aren’t penalized in survivability or damage as thief is).
I can not play this game anymore just to see other classes do more single target AND aoe damage than we can do with a backstab and with less thought and effort (DH traps, Revenant hammer 2 with 1200 range and with a 2 second cooldown).
This will probably be my last post because I am incredibly dissapointed with the state of the game and just playing it makes me mad, it was fun outplaying people with a high skill cap class but this is just masochism at this point and just being a thief is just a straight up disadvantage.

You can shadowstep out of slick shoes. You can also make slick shoes much more difficult to land by attacking directly into scrappers less often and less predictably. This can be accomplished by using tactics like using Bound/Vault to the front or front side of the scrapper instead of directly on top of him/her, dodging backwards out of shadow shot if you suspect slick shoes is coming, etc. Basically, if you can continually put them in a position where they need to chase you to land slick shoes rather than cut off one of your attacks, you’ll have a chance to react to it. The same tactic applies to avoiding gravity well, chrono shield #5, shield bash/head butt, impact strike, etc.

So you basicaly needs to be a better player on every aspect so that you won’t get instakilled by a single spell, after that you proceed on doing less dmg than the enemy but outplaying him constantly by predicting, thus avoiding every play he can do (knowing all his spells is key here).
Fair enough… so you just need to be a significantly better player than your opponent, have some luck to don’t get killed by constant aoe pressure and you will most likely win.
For winning a 1v1, which scrappers are designed to excel at, that’s pretty much it, yes. You won’t die instantly as you say but you’ll likely die before slick shoes dissipates. If they catch you with the latter part of the skill, they stand right on top of you, and you have steal up, it’s possible to daze them without knocking yourself down and escape as it fades. I’m not trying to suggest anything is perfect and balanced. I’m attempting to suggest what can be done with how things currently are.
There was a nice line I heard recently in Narcos (series) and I think it fits very well here:
“Bad guys need to get lucky every time. The goods guys need to get lucky only once.”
Thieves aren’t good guys here.

as far as i am aware thieves were supposed to be good at 1v1, engis were supposed to be jack of all trades master of none and be WEAK against condis (which they are not, my guess is because of Grouch)

yes, rev reveal range is only 360 … scrappers is only 600, and both are avoidable by either distance or dodge.
the funny thing is, scrapper has a trait that if you hit a stealth opponent in stealth you’ll reveal them. therefore, avoid shadow refuge when a scrapper is around, use like cloak and dagger…

The meta scrapper build doesn’t use the tratline where this trait is situated.

true, but many in some wvw guilds ask for it to be ran for when zergs use veil and mass invis… or at least two commanders asked me to run it, but i dont prefer it.
