It’s a lot less frustrating to just quit.
They didn’t even try to disguise this huge nerf. They added 2 traps. Anti-supply trap and anti-thief trap.
Any words I use to describe how I think about this patch would get replaced by kitten on these forums.

Ive been had a necro, thief is still first though, but by god you will definitely notice the lack of mobility and stun breaks. My terrormancer saves her precious stamina while my thief is like “stamina? I have that?”.
lol im sure….but its a wvw/tpvp player only. basically like my guardian. only run him if guild needs more guards or its a tpvp. special case thing. but then again thats what thief is for…..special cases….scouting ….roaming….camp capping. :P

CnD say deal dmg grants three seconds of stealth. for me at least it should say, deal dmg, grant four seconds of stealth, gain regen,gain two stacks of might, run 33% faster, next attack will be critical if from stealth

start playing suicide bomber toons (dps guard and signet war). At least you’ll get some ez kills each bomb run, beats hitting a trap and not kill kitten before getting gangbanged.
i think they are glad if 75% of wvw thieves quit
i for one, don’t cry for them, maybe the pve version can finally get some buffs?
Give us a classic stealth mechanic, with a panic stealth button every 60 secs; change something in our traits,skills.
It will be easier than tryin to balance our stealth mech. so powerfull!

Better Idea: Anti-Life trap. You activate it and it produces a field of radiation that hits you for 99k every second. Lasts 1 hour.
If everyone wants easy mode, then Anet should give them easy mode. Amirite?

I played WvW yesterday. These traps are not that cheap and takes 4 seconds to put down. I do not see it being a problem at all. In fact, I did not get unstealthed once by any traps when I played yesterday.

Don’t drink and post kids – Sword/dagger evasion build is currently the competitive build.

Overuse ? How can you overuse the only viable skill in X/D weaponsets ?or D/P ( however i do agree that d/p is op)
D/D Its is Cnd/Backstab/AA. Dancingdagger is highly situational. Heartseeker is a gap closer. Death blossom – u must be kidding me.
S/D It still is a CnD/tactical strike/AA. Infiltrators strike is a gap closer/antistun/condition cleaner and can put some confusion, but its only a troll tool if used much since it cuts out your damage if u jump all over the place. Flanking strike strike is still crap, ofc after it was buffed and announced as a viable skill every thief i see in www runs s/d and spams 333333333 till they are out of initiative ( 222222222 anyone ? ). Dancing dagger again very situational.
P/D Cnd/Sneak attack/few vital shots/insert dodge where needed repeat. Body Shot – plz… Shadow strike – highly situational, might work if stun break is on cooldown and u are pinned down, but its 4 initiative less to acess stealth and use only ability that actually does some damage – sneak attack. Dancing dagger as on every X/D weapon set is highly situational.
So yes CnD and stealth is bread and butter of X/D builds and if you dont “overuse it” you are doing it wrong.

-1. Evasion is viable. Been having it since prelaunch and I can tell you it’s more fast pace and the adrenaline rush flows in more naturally.
But in the end, it’s someone’s preference of what they prefer. Your preference is what makes you excel in the type of gameplay you choose.

most thiefs i know have little to none;) atleast from gear and/or acesory and i know more then 1 thief;)

Agreed. I think you should post video of your Mesmer using this trap in 1vX vs thieves. I bet thieves will be free points to your Mesmer after hitting them with trap. You can also use your stealth to drop it.
I know traps work both ways, but I don’t want to play a game where dropping traps on solo thieves is how you win. I don’t want to waste my time removing supply from a Zerg over and over because it simply kitten es them off.
These traps are literally the worst idea brought to gw2.
They should work more like PN from Daoc. Highly visible to the enemy. This way the will only be useful in large Zerg battles at choke points. More of a defensive skill vs offensive.

good point…… or u could rewrite it to say….deal dmg for 6 initiative…….if u trigger a trap or are near one that is triggered. the list above is to just show a thief is destroyed on these traps. offense …defense….boons….heals….blinds etc. way too much. if they just lost stealth or stealth attack thats one thing…but so much is attached. wait for the weekend to come. we will see whats up.

supply traps give thieves a new rolle…..(single handly stop zergs!!!) im going to made a video of this on raid nite…… Shadow refuge……go out of keep drop trap……go back in grab 10 supply….go back out drop another….. even if they do get thru first gate they will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER get thru the 2nd.

Why would anyone waste 10 supply to make you revealed for 30 seconds. The stealth trap counters veil, not single players.
I know you don’t need traps to kill thieves on your Mesmer puandro. That’s my point.

Why shouldnt you overuse your class special tool? We got attacks that change from being in stealth, we get alot of way to go in stealth. Most build and survivability tool in trait are relied to stealth. We dont win fight because we used steal, we win because we stealth (for most build. infiltrator is brand new).
I mean if as a guardian i overuse my virtue.. its bad? Like every time i get a kill my virtue come back up and i reuse it, reblind people and put a heavy fire dot. I use my elite to give me back my virtues and reuse them instantly. I keep using them
Just as i keep using my toolbelt, my pets with ranger, switching elements and made a spec for my warrior that my burst come back faster and my adrenaline too so i can do it every 8 seconds.
Locking away a class mechanic for 30 secs really screw alot of builds for a single class. Stealth zerg bomb was harsh true and preventing it with a well place trap is ok because everybody in the zerg can still fight even if the TACTIC fail.
Locking stealth away from the thief basically render him useless, taking away is survivability and his burst. Just try locking the stance switching on an elem just to see how they would feel about that.
I don’t like the evasion thief. I prefer stealth.
Ill continue to spvp but I am not setting foot in wvw only to give free points to players with traps that kill my entire 30 points in shadow arts.
I’m tired of “adjusting” every patch and learning to play my class a different way. I just want to be able to login and have fun. I feel like my class is being persecuted. I used to play wvw almost exclusively until you nerfed revealed to 4s. Since then it has been all down hill for me and my fun in wvw. This patch just killed it.
If these traps make it to spvp, I will quit the game.
I highly doubt that you’ve properly thought this through. You do understand that no one is going to throw up something that costs more than an AC to kill a single thief, right?
These traps are never (rarely) going to be used outside of large groups of people. They’re only ever going to be good for denying veils, portal bombing and such. In massive groups your stealth doesn’t matter all that much anyway due to all the AoE damage everywhere, and when you’re just roaming around you won’t see these traps.
In a week from now we’ll see even less portal bombing and less veil. I think that’s as far as it goes. Thieves will barely feel the effects of this.

There’s a risk, I guess, but I still HIGHLY doubt that you’ll see much of them other than in big group situations. Time might prove me wrong, but it might also prove others wrong, I just think that people are a bit too upset and scared of this already.
