Guild Wars 2

So I really do not like thieves. Their mobility quickly grows obnoxious to the point where once they start losing a fight for any reason they’ll bugger off for 12 seconds and go ooc to regen only to try again. Thanks to their low cooldowns and init system its insanely easy for them to reset a fight. They get movement impairing conditions removed if they have it traited seemingly for free, of course. And their damage is a struggle to deal with most of the time.

… This is coming from a necromancer player, though. A class with hilariously bad mobility, laughably abysmal defense against power pressure, and most of its kiting and chasing comes from soft ccs.
But then I thought on it, and with some changes to my own playpatterns I can do some mean things to thieves that play predictably. It’s the same with almost any matchup I’ve played in.
Against a power mesmer I can simply roll at the right time and laugh, then tell them that their blood is better left outside of their body.
Against a warrior I can say “friend, that resistance looks awful on you. Have you tried chill instead?” .. but warriors are stubborn and it takes some convincing before they stay chilled. Guardians who burst burning I can tell them that these belong to them and return it all with plague signet. Moa mesmers I can… well honestly a well timed moa makes me legitimately want to cry, but at least moa has good mobility LOL.

Reallly, I love this game. And while I get greatly annoyed when a good thief obliterates me to the point I am no longer relevant in the match, I know that its a good mix between a matchup issue and a L2p issue.
Balance can be touch-and-go at times, I can’t and won’t deny it. But all in all, at least on a casual level, the pvp is the most fun I’ve had in an mmo.

In fairness though thieves are bad inside teamfights. and the meta has revolved around thief jumping you since the dawn of pvp. when i get jumped or think im getting jumped just kite (so many spots where thief cant steal on you) and be happy that im letting my team be 4v3.

But if in pvp you manage to make the teef run away from the point you’ve been fighting on doesnt that acoumt as you winning the fight? On a diff note more ppl like this would be welcome for some reason if pll cant play in a match up that matchup must be unbalanced. Glad to see you take a diff aproach.
