I think its funny that the Greatsword...
Yeah, no. Warrior’s mobility comes from an easily acquired permanent swiftness combined with Rush and Whirlwind. Even then, it would only beat a Thief in (very) long distance running. Rush is slow, and even comparing it to Shadowstep makes this thread laughable at best. Whirlwind is great for movement, and a far better option than Rush (especially if you have the option to target enemies for you on).
Thief has amazing mobility. The only reason thief doesn’t have the best long distance mobility is because of Initiative and a lack of a real good source of Swiftness (25%, though great, is still 8% less than Swiftness). Thieves are still amazing at quickly covering distance with their abilities. No other class can cover 3000 distance in a second (Infiltrator’s Signet -> Shadowstep -> Steal).
Greatsword by itself doesn’t even compare to Shortbow. Once again, it’s an easily acquired permanent Swiftness that makes warrior mobile.
You’re doing something wrong. quite frankly i can outrun have superior mobility/survivalbility then all classes. The other classes that can only keep up is a mesmer or bunker ele
Mesmer is pretty awful at catching people. No idea how you’re getting caught by Mesmers as a Thief. Their best ability for chasing is a 900 range instant teleport on a 30 second CD. They don’t have any long range instant distance closers. A thief using nothing but Infiltrator’s Arrow can get away, no problem. Add in a thief’s other abilities and you shouldn’t even have an issue getting away.
D/D Ele, though, I can kind of understand. They have a ton of distance closers.

oops srry bout that i kinda messed up. I meant a mesmer has really good mobility/survivability while in combat. But for sure if we’re talking about running away or getting to point a to point b then the only class i would say that can keep up is an ele. But once you know how to use a thief, it’s pretty much game over.
4. Our movement skill Shadowstep is also condition stun/condition removal, so if we run away from something its very usefull.
Not really. The condition removal part doesn’t work well when you run away from something since it only applies on the return part.
Poor thiefs dont understand game mechanics.
Have you even played the game? Movement increase only works on forward running, which is pretty much not so useful in combat.
Prema 25% run speed boost + dropping out of combat at will = best mobility
More prove that you haven’t played the game much, Signet of Shadows takes up a utility slot – and going into stealth (assuming that’s what you’re talking about) does not drop you out of combat.
Thiefs have the best in combat mobility and are far from slow out of combat… other classes must use multiple weapons or utilities to get a prema +33% speed boost…. a Thief can outdue that with signet and short bow.
The only use for SoS is in getting from A to B on a 25% speed increase – which is not 33%. It has little effect in combat. Thieves can dodge like everybody else and ‘gap closers’ are quite common on melee classes/weapons. But thieves have to use what mobility they have to survive, so maybe it looks like they’re more mobile
Oh, I’d consider Shortbow + SoS to fall into the category “multiple weapons or utilities”, but hey, it’s about thieves so …
