Im begging you.begging you please anet! :DDD
honestly always wondered why there was no off hand sword skill set. I dont particularly have any ideas on what this would be but we can dual daggers and pistols, why not swords?
Ferguson’s Crossing [MAIN]
I dont particularly have any ideas on what this would be
Thieves are supposed to be a finesse fighter, at least for looks. Holding let alone using an offhand sword would be terribly awkward, unbalancing, etc. Might as well ask why Thieves don’t get a big 2H hammer as well.
I suppose there is probably some anime or something you guys are basing this duel wielding sword shenanigans off of, but that shouldn’t be a factor.
Gonna have to agree with Surbrus, I don’t see how offhand sword makes any sense as an option for thieves since all other mainhand weapons other than sword are all smaller.
fair enough, I wasnt voting in favor of or against in fact I think a thief with swords looks awkward anyway, I was just curious.
Ferguson’s Crossing [MAIN]
How about some axes? chop chop chop
Don’t want it. I’d rather have shuriken to use as ranged or kunai to use as melee/ranged.
I wouldn’t mind seeing new options for:
Sword (Off-hand), Axe (main and off hand), Rifle (1200 range pls) and a rework for P/P.
Dear colin and arenanet, Please add offhand sword for this, its a Win-Win
As you’ve seen there is tons of QQers about thieves, and offhand sword would mean less of them however at the thief side we get more than 1 stealthless viable build. And dont say that oh thief is too weak to have offhand swords. cuz thats not an factor at all.
and that bigger sword offhand issue, well many ppl are lefthanded i see no problem the characthers can be that. i would even pay very mutch $$$$$ and £££££££ for it ftw xdDD
Thieves have it the easiest/best exploitation mechanics yet they are the most demanding. Amusing.

Moron, Warriors and Mesmers in this very game dual wield swords.

I mean come on, Deadly Arts deadly paradox Assassins did exist. As the spiritual successor where is my focus anet?
you probably watched too much what was that called? something something online?sword art? oh kids. why don’t you just ask for all weapons available for thieves anyway, i mean there’s thieves with all weapons across all media.
“berserker stance clears all CC on you and you’re still immune to CC for 8 seconds”

When i think of dual wielding swords, i always first picture the drow race from forgotten realms, who are the epitome of finesse and agility. Dont see how that agile, fast fighting style wouldnt fit right in with thieves. 2 swords doesnt have to mean dumb barbarian. Thieves need some choices.
Secondly, I’m all for offhand focus, we need to utilize our denial magic more

Awkward and imbalanced? I’d like to direct you to exibit A.
Isn’t your character supposed to be amazing and train every day? If someone were to train every day with 2 swords, they’d get used to fighting with 2 swords. There’s quite a few flashy sword styles with 2 swords but I didn’t want to link some Japanese person doing form or crap videos like Hidden Tiger or w/e it’s called.

You.. I don’t… Are you insulting people who watch anime, while also insinuating that you watch it yourself?
Also, two sword fighting is a real thing. It isn’t fantasy. I’m pretty sure the legendary Japanese swordsmen and author of The Book of Five Rings, Musashi, used a sword in each hand as just one example. Though the left one was a shortsword.

Japanese history lesson tiemz!!!
Miyamoto Musashi ?? ?? is the most famous Japanese Samurai to ever live, and he did in fact develop a 2 sword fighting style, Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu. With a larger sword in his right (main) hand and a smaller sword in his left. It was developed for fighting on horse back, as he viewed that as how real samurais would fight in a war, but none of his famous duels were ever fought using 2 swords together or on horse back. In fact, in his most famous duel, he used the ore from a boat instead of a real weapon.

Using two swords is like using two pistols. Looks cool (to some) and uneducated people think you can learn to do it, but it’s just bad and impractical.
The thing I don’t get is why we don’t have axes? We can go for the assassin look through weapons and armor, The rogue look and the pirate look, but not the bandit look even though there are bandits all over Tyria? What If I want a big, dumb, brutish Norn bandit to stomp around and steal things, swinging his axe as he goes?
can i haz a bannana in my offhand too ? just for some lolz

What do uneducated people have to do with a two weapon fighting style? Had no idea we were applying reality to a video game. I would imagine using two long swords in real life might be a difficult and awkward technique but not impractical.

And yet the engineer has an effective dual pistol loadout. I don’t even particularly care about dual swords, but telling others they shouldn’t want it because it’s not realistic is painfully silly in a game, especially when other classes can have the same unrealistic loadout.

Just like casting lightning bolts from a staff, am I right?
Also… IN – THIS – VERY – GAME – People dual wield swords. It happens. It’s already there.
And also, unlike two pistols, people actually did use a sword in each hand in real life. As has already been mentioned.
Also, can I ask what training makes you such an expert on swordsmanship?

lol, I want a +5e Spear and Shield aswell. :P
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
Well, not all thieves got to be elemtalist in muscle size like, anywhy if a thief trains at strength he would become stronger, simply. Never seen dual wielding thieves?
Thief are the rogue archetype right? in many games the strong ones can dual wield swords, but dual swords is around the limit for a thief. Btw shiro was an assasin (spiriutal ancestor of thief) he did actually dual wield swords…

meh, I’ve seen thuggish Thieves dual wield blunt weapons a.k.a. small maces or small hammers.

Are you seriously trying to argue whether or not dual wielding swords would make sense in this game, at all?
Maybe some visual evidence will help here, because words sure aren’t;

People always seem to want these weapons without knowing what skills the weapon would have. A sword off hand would really have to give something different from daggers (so no stealth or throwing) and different from warrior swords. I suspect that getting it different from warrior double sword is a big problem since there’s no obvious blind or movement mechanic to put in. The dual skill is a bit easier to imagine, a crossed sword parry, but can thieves legitimately have a spammable parry?
i would like them to expand upon the 1 weapon style of combat, 1 dagger/sword/pistol or w/e style with appropriate traits of course.
I would prefure if anet not any more classes, skills, trates or weapons options. That mistake was made with gw1 and is the main reason why it became a behemoth that could not be balanced

Samurai would be heavy, Ninja would be medium and Shrine Maiden/Monk would be light =3
yeah give us sword off hand, just for the fun of walking around dagger mainhand and sword off hand :o
Although i do agree i don’t really what skills to put on sword offhand, the parry won t bug me if it isn’t too long as we already have initiative evades which are more powerful than blocking !

We’re already doing that underwater with Spear #3 so why not on the surface also?

technically it would be more balancing for a fighter to have even weighted weapons in each hand. to REALLY use s/d combination you would need a glaive and gladius to make it work. prtetty much nothing in the game is close :P. anime is nothign to do with it. dual swords of realistic size is ab out 10x more fathomable than these giant greatswords with square edges people use. lol fail :P
