Increasing troll rate in thief forum?
I think a lot of the thief hatred comes from the fact that classes, already perceived as weak, are nerfed or ignored with every patch.
Just look at the engineer. From day one no one liked them. Overly complex, clumbsy to play, mountains of bugs, and I’m pretty sure they have been nerfed in every single patch.
So now, like I say in my sig, the class is only viable if you can find a bug you can exploit. The HGH bug is the current exploit, and it’s not all that impressive.
…but imagine if thieves were only viable if they had 20 stacks of might.
And other classes suffer greatly from an out of whack lame-to-fun ratio.
Guardians are fun, but, for me, their slow runspeed sucks all the fun out of them. The thought of leveling another toon to 80 that runs just as slowly (mesmer) is a major turn off.
Necros are well.. that’s enough… I don’t need to explain how in lots of ways the other classes are pretty lousy, but when it comes to thieves people just don’t see a lot of bad stuff.
So when the boon hate stuff came down the pipe, it would have been the perfect time for Anet to buff engis, necros… and weapons that are never used, like mage scepters.
Instead they gave two ways for thieves to steal boons, and peoples jaw hit the floor.
Add to that the constant, never-ending whining thieves do about warriors, a class no one else has any problem with, and it inspires a lot of hate.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.
@EZRIEL i think you have a more ….unique….sense of perception. i played monk from guild wars 1 as my main. i would have played it here too but they didnt make monk unfortunately. from what im getting….the slower…support classes that cant run or jump around as much seem boring to you ….especially the ones that dont have cool combos. i imagine that monk is not your playstyle either right? slow…clumbsy….crap damage….no cool pretty combos or jumping around….and pretty much all group focused specs. alot of people like necros for the marks and aoe that totally can take command of a battlefield….aoe dmg on engie too with mad conditions on these 2 classes. guardians??? one group with and one without….the guardian groups should always win…..a VERY important part of any group. point is just bc they dont do what every other class does …doesnt make them not needed/important/ or an integral part of a winning formula. if u wanna feel needed an contribute at a super high lvl “play those classes” if u wanna roam and be selfish and kill strays…play thief all depends on what you think fun is. and thats why every class is different.
^running across the map is boring to me… making it last 25%-30% longer than the other classes is torture.
Necros suck in zerg battles, that’s right I said it. In a zerg there are too many classes that aoe cleanse. Keeping bleeds up is completely reliant on your enemy being so bad they can’t find their heal button.
..and even if they can’t cleanse it off, bunkering rangers, guards, warriors, and eles can just ignore you, because there is no easy way for a necro to stack enough bleeds to out damage their healing. Unless they forget to eat their food.
And I actually do that, I’ll notice my health going down, and then I’ll notice that my food buff wore off.
Engineers are clumsy as all out. Just look at how smoothly elementalists can switch between their elements. Engineer are supposed to play like that! Instead you have individual, hidden 20 second cooldowns on kit refinement. You have new and improved turrets, and the turret traits DON’T WORK.
Metal Plating, Elite Supplies, Autotool Installation, Rifled Turret Barrels…
Rifled Barrels, Fireforged Trigger, Short Fuse, Scope…
Nothing works! This isn’t alpha! When are they gonna fix their game?
So yeah, play an engineer, look over your neighbors fence.. and ask why his grass is so green!

engineers need a good buff i wont lie. but they are still good tho!

necros are one of the top 2 players in zergs. easily. im not saying my server is the best…although we havent lost first player since i can remember……but guardians and necros are easily the 2 most important classes. thieves and rangers are the 2 least important (other than thieves spamming cluster for pre battle buffs in fire field)

Necros Condition :
Take conditions from nearbye allies to themselves
Take conditions from self and spread to foes in area
Epidemic spreads the conditions on a foe and spreads them to EVERY enemy nearbye
Necro Damage:
AOE dmg
AOE fear
AOE ice
Very little single target damage. Necros are made for groups/zergs
It’s the same 3-5 trolls on our forum mindlessly bashing other Thieves constantly as if they are gods at the class they likely have never played.
Increase? Really? No, not until Columba comes back.
Oh wait, he got permabanned due to an influx of being reported for ridiculous offenses by whiners who didn’t like his presence and wanted him silenced.
