Is Gw2 worth coming back to on thief?
Yea its gotten a lot worse since the time frame when you left. I still do enjoy my thief in open world PvE (minus raids)—but what class cant do well at that scene. Its the SPvP that kills it for me.
Dont get me wrong—I can still do +1 & decaps faster/better than any other class (I run a very cheesy decap build)—exactly what ppl expected and wanted from thieves. What broke my desire to keep playing with this was the horrible environment from fellow players that cry and complain at the start of a match that a thief is on their team—blame the thief if they lose. Finally, it got so bad, that I started playing NON ranked SPvP, thinking I could at least get away from the toxic comments—NOPE!!!
I tried turning off chat…but then ppl would PM me—that was my tipping point.
The thief dose it job fine..and very well with a team that works together; but since I soloq, this class is not for me right now.
Nope it is not worth coming back
It’s not worth it. Thief and Warrior are both out of the meta. Thief is a bit better, but not by much. And Thief is also obsolete in PvE, so… not much to do.
I think so. I have a lot of fun and say what u want about thief’s dps in pve, it’s top tier. Playing a thief is kinda like playing the underdog because ignorant people don’t expect much but when I own them in PvP they get all kitten about it and PM saying I have no skill lol. Those who quit on the thief, well you probably weren’t a real thief player to begin with if u ended up switching classes. But yeah if u want a fun class and that underdog feeling come back to thief. It’ll be worth it when we finally get the buffs we deserve lol
in pve thief is best dps on berserk, but pvp its trash tier

It’s so good no one wants one for raids.
And GL in DS / TD meta using a melee zerk Thief.
Depends on what content you’re trying to play in my opinion. Thief is the only character I play for WvW and PvP; its amazing! I personally love the role that thief plays in both PvP matches as well as WvW so I may be biased. I rarely touch PvE (Raids, dungeons, etc.) because I know that it doesn’t really offer as much utility as other classes. Only other level 80 I have is a Herald which I only touch when there’s huge battles in WvW and that’s because my fps drops to like 15-25 when there’s 100+ people fighting over SMC so its hard to gank with my thief.
Depends on what is your idea of ‘fun’.
If you like to faceroll, expecting to one-shot stuff, then no, thief is not worth it.
If you like a challenge, high skill-ceiling, high skill-cap, mediocre rewards class, then yes, Thief is worth playing.
Personally, it feels more satisfying for me to kill another player as a thief, compared to using other classes. It feels satisfying for me to stay alive in PvE group content, being the last person to go down/ soloing a boss when everyone else is dead.
Thus, thief is worth playing to me.
where bashing people over the head with a stick deals more damage than a stab to the heart.

It’s so good no one wants one for raids.
That’s because of
1) Ignorance by copypasta meta scrubs who usually aren’t able to kill the VG with the most easy classes in team;
2) Most thief players are really bad at playing
And regarding 2:
And GL in DS / TD meta using a melee zerk Thief.
Full zerker staff DD thief here. Both metas are kitten easy on such a build, if you know what you’re doing. If you go down a lot, you should stop blaming the class and blame your actual playing.
BTW
Class “X” is bad at PvE nowaydas, means being bad at the new Raid mode.
Assuming you dont mind adapting your build here and there. There is not a single dungeon, world and Mists content you can’t do. (tough yes, thief may have some difficulties on High lvl mists).
About Raids…. well. Better read a few guides before trying it.
SPvP wise Thief is finally trashed to the sidelines!
I say finaly because after all those nerf bats, it took a bit long for us to reach this spot.
Thief is still fun to play nonethless. And daredevil complement or builds pretty fine despite everyone else getting broken.
Fell free to play Thief on Amber and Emerald Leagues, but you may choose something else past (unless playing with friends).
WvW your class doesnt matter.
Solo queued to ruby with only thief and warrior. 55% win rate. Yeah it’s totally fine to play your thief – just don’t suck at it. You’ll have to try way harder to win as much as you would as another class, but if you enjoy thief, then why not?

okay, have fun
:))
okay, have fun
Already did, ty. VG beaten with around 2:40 remaining on timer. :P
I forgot to elaborate on the game type- I spent most of my time in PvP and roaming a bit in WvW. PvE always only half-interested me, and once I got my ascended armor/gear and legendaries I got pretty bored. I’ll try to queue a bit tonight and see how it goes, but thanks to everyone for the rad feedback!
Better come back now then in another 6-12 months.
No. Play revenant its almost the same thing but without steal.
Have fun roaming on your thief in WvW. There are a lot of classes/builds which will just melt you. That’s okay for me but actually every class will just faceroll you if they are on the same skill level as you. The only balanced fights I find are against other thieves or warriors.
BTW you are an expert in running away as fast as lightning on an daredevil spec but good revenants will still catch up and kill you 90% of the time. It’s so broken, it’s almost fun! Can’t wait for the balance patch…or the release of some other mmos…
incredible flamer, part-time forum warrior, salty as
kitten!
It is definitely worth coming back. Ok, we’re not that great in pvp, but thief still works very well in lower divisions (I only lost a couple of games in saphire solo queuing on thief) provided your team mates actually know how to play with a thief.
On the other hand, daredevil is in my opinion the absolute best elite specialization. Two of our elite dodges are equally viable, while feeling really distinct and looking amazing. The third one (the condi one) is decent in WvW, and also feels great. The new traits are incredible: daredevil has a lot of options and playstyles, and you have to make difficult choices that really affect the way you play. You can play damage on dodge, condition removal on dodge and staff to bounce in a team fight like a mad man, or take dash and PI to play a mobile interrupt build.
Our new skills are also really cool. The channel heal, Fist Flurry, Impact Strike and Bandit’s Defense are all useful in their own way, and have very distinct animations that make you look like a martial artist. When the powercreep gets nerfed, we’ll have a blast in pvp.
No wait till they do something to the thief, the new meta for the other classes and a little organization in spvp will make you want to slit your wrist, you will be belittled by your teammates for even joining in ranked games at higher level divisions. Play the other classes until they do something about the lack of surviving big scale battles for the thief.

You’re either doing something wrong or need to change your build up a bit if you’re letting revs catch up to you lol. If you’re using s/d, just use IS, SS, Inf Sig, sb5, and turn around to /laugh because you’re pretty much 2000+ range away in a matter of seconds. But even sb 5 should be enough to run away from classes. Only class I’ve had a hard time fighting against are Eles/tempests and the occasional outnumbered fights.
If you don’t mind rerolling then it’s fine to come back.
