I have a lvl 80 mesmer and elementalist that I play most of the time and an engineer that I’ve been ignoring, but with all the new changes to the levelling system and such I thought I’d try out a new profession. Thief seems the most interesting and probably the most enjoyable but I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about this profession.

So my question is: would levelling a thief be worth it or should I just stick with what I have? How has the new balance update affected thieves?

Well if you want to spend time going through the most awesome leveling systems to get the best class in the game (backed by all the QQ’s we receive on daily/weekly basis) that’s ANet’s golden child and receives but only buffs and righteous fixes and improvements, then yeah totally worth it!

Thieves ARE the nerf wagon where everyone dumps their excess tears into from what I’ve witnessed. :P

No. I mean whatever you can try to play a thief if you want. It’s my only 80 and the only profession I’ve played since launch, so I’ll continue to play one… but I’m a masochist.

I also play thief since launch, like Lyndon of Kingsport once said “thievery is hard work !” You have to work extra hard to be as effactive as like say warriors and guardian and you will never be the first choice as teammates.

However it is the best class for world explorations because you can stealth pass almost anything. But much harder than elementalist while leveling or doing story mode.

You may as well give Thief a whirl. Especially since you main Mesmer. This’ll give you inside knowledge of how to counter a class that gives Mesmers issues. And, Thief’s just fun, too.
