As the title says, is the thief worth playing anymore, after all those nerfs?

I still love my thief, I do extremely well in wvw and pve situations, I only have one char, and thats thief, and only ever will be thief.

the next big patch for skills is going to tell me if i stay or not. to be honest. its still fun but only while roaming and only when its the right amount of enemies and only when its the right environment……wow thats alot of “ifs”

Yah, I love my 1 on 1 in wvw, sometimes 2 on 1, but I never zerg I only roam and when I get attacked by like 5 people, it hurts lol, yay for running away. Still adds to the challenge so its enjoyable, but yah getting new or fixed skills would be nice, since every other class gets them every patch.

I love PvP and I think thief is the best choice. I’ve decided and I`m leaving my mesmer for a thief. Thanks to all.

@lews yeah. we have only gotten 2 real buffs to skills. 3 arguably

1) FS/LS
2)Shadow Strike
3) Steal

And none of them are really that fantastic, you always read up on the other classes and they have like half a page of things that got changed, then you get to thief and we have like 1 or 3 things lol. Just would be nice to get more attention, like fix the bugged traits we have and so on, and improve on our skills since half of them are useless. Just my personal opinion.

Regardless of how good a thief is or is not, I will never give up my ability to flee from any situation when it goes south. Any. Situation. Never underestimate how powerful first strike advantage is, and thieves rely on that like no other due to stealth. Start losing a fight? Stealth out, wait for a reset, hop back in, rinse and repeat until your opponent makes a mistake. Be essentially immortal.

Besides, no other class can 1vZerg as easily as a thief can.

Yah I wont lie, I only ever die when I get caught by surprise by a zerg or a large group of people, otherwise I kill and kill and pretty much never die, though I am really good I think.

I’d argue that really isn’t the case because of stealth. So much of the class is built around it and you can’t cap points while in stealth… though there are some really good non-stealth builds. But still, i would never call thief the best pvp class.

Were anything but the best, and in the end it’s the user of the class that makes or break it, it’s the same with any class. Ive fought good players in all classes and really bad ones, it all ends with how the user plays the class and there reaction time and so on. Don’t blame a class if you cant play it, just practice and get better.

Amen , thief is great we could use some more buffs though , very curious about the new skills in the future and hopefully we will be even better in PvE.

thieves can troll…they cant 1vZ….nobody can.

It’s possible to do 1vX fights. In a smaller server that counts as a zerg. I don’t mean 1v100 or anything. Maybe 1v10. Any other class pretty much gets steamrolled instantly. A thief can play with his stealth to spread his opponents thin and pick off the targets one by one starting with the squishiest. That’s what I meant. My bad!

nobody can 1 v 10. the most i can ever imagine is 1 v 5 against bad players. just aint happening. i dont mean 1 v 3 then u kill 1 then another couple come in and you kill one then another comes and u end up killin em all…thats still a 1 v 3….just a few more came after. but 1 v 10 is impossible withou hacking

Why do people say that Thief is only good in WvWvW as a roamer? I’ve done a fair bit of work as a large scale debuffer. It may not be as direct as say, Warrior or Guardian, but it serves an important purpose if done right.

PvE… sure, thief still does great damage and can pick up other players safely (among other things)

WvW… there are better classes to choose if you’re not out to slap yaks/scout/supply trap in WvW.
