Wtf are you talking about? The nerf to Assasin’s Signet was 100% required and has turned out to be an awesome balance tweak. Instead of a single attack being buffed, we now have 5 attacks being buffed. This opens up the paths for new builds such as Unload/blind builds and more.

yeah, 1 attack and 4 autoattacks for +15% damage is going to make the balance. it might be better if only 2-5 skills and stealth skills could be affected by it.

Sounds like a buff, only change is now the other player has a chance to dodge instead of the insta gib.
BTW for the CoD “I need most killzzzz on the board lullzzz” Thieves I know counting is troublesome, that’s 5 attacks in that rotation above so you can use the change to it’s full extent.

your autoattack chain is 4 strikes, maybe not all 4 of them will consume the signet, but you’ll lose at least 2.
The bonus goes from 50% to 65% over 5 attacks, and the kids still cry rofl. What are you FOTM bandwagoners going to roll now?

you know that doesn’t work right? there’s a 3 second long “revealed” period after attacking from stealth where you can’t enter stealth again.

@Devildoc – You’re complaining about the change in burst and then compare a fix to it to damage over time? Move along guys, OP doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
The change was a good trade off. You wont be doing 18k crits and instagibbing people, but youll be doing technically more damage over the course of 5 attacks. Its a good balance fix. It gives players the time to react to the backstab instead of beign one shotted, and its not like thieves are all of a sudden crap that cant kill things.
All that said, gotta take note that there are quite a few thieves who play effectively who dont even use assassin’s signet. So yeah, if you dont got your face punching backstab anymore and are kitten about it, how bout trying something else?
I never used assassin signet, I was a sword/pistol thief, aka an autoattack thief now.

Backstab build isnt about constant dps or keeping the auto attacks rolling, sometimes you do for strategic purposes like making them use vapor form or w/e before bursting but this is a great tweak imo. Gets rid of the rediculous backstabs for more balanced constant damage, now I pop it hit steal/cnd/backstab dancing dagger twice if there is a friend nearby, if not I heartseeker. Seriously this is a buff imo. Mostly because the whole consuming it even if ur attack misses thing kinda got on my kitten nerves so with this there are still atleast 4 other attacks that will get that damage buff.
Sounds like someone who rolled a class just to play one single build and then can’t fathom why it got tweaked.
Stealth just got a huge buff btw, might know that if you ever loaded other skills on your bar.

Seems like he’s more worried about the attitude of the company instead of the actual change. This has happened with several games, and it never sets a good standard when a company makes nerfs based on forum QQ . Sure this one change may have been entirely needed. It’s already set a precedent though.
Think about it this way. If you knew that all you had to do was make a post to get another class nerfed, would you do it? Say you saw one that you genuinely thought was too strong, would you make a post knowing that’s all it would take to nerf them?
Not saying I agree, or disagree, with the change. I do understand what happens when a company goes down that path though.

I laugh at this. Wasn’t it first like 8k then 10k then 14k then 18k and now 25k. I have yet to see a full glass cannon thief go over 8k on backstab for me.

I think he’s talking about Warriors. lol, warriors are getting a bit worried because you see less and less of them in tPvP, unlike the thief. Thieves are able to deal way more bursting dmg, and warriors ranged weapons are only effective if they are playing glass canon, aka noob player.
I have a hammer warrior and a condition thief and you should try to play as a warrior before talking about them.
About the pacth, I refuse to see it as a nerf. It wasn’t, it balance things and provides more diversity to use in other builds. Pistol Whip and Unload are examples of usage. Combined with the trait that gives 5 stacks of Might upon Signet activation, this can be deadly.
What cracks me up is the posts that give the impression that the devs just read a complaint on the forums and then nerfed the skill. Do they really think that the devs didn’t test the build to see if it was really op? Come on, use a little bit of logic.
The devs have said multiple times that when they consider a change, be it a bug fix or a skill change, they take a full week of testing it.So, one would think that for the week of testing, if the change was too major, they would tone it down a bit.
Just because you think the change was due to forum QQ, does NOT mean it really is.
Their goal is to have semi-long to long PvP fights, and having a scenario where a class takes away 75% of his enemy’s HP before even going visible is not supporting it.

To be honest, every single complaint of this change is a kid’s cry for they cannot global a light or medium armor class anymore.
Yeah I’m honestly not surprised that AS got changed. My elementalist is level 80, defensively specced with mainly defensive gear, and got hit for 11.5K with a backstab once. If I had not been defensively specced, that would have likely been a one shot kill. I didn’t complain or anything, but I did find that hit just a bit ridiculous.
IMO, the game is at its best when it’s a contest of skill between two players that can counter each other’s skills. When you allow for skills that literally kill someone in one shot without any chance for a counter…then that is a bit crazy.

Yes, as noted above, Backstab with the Signet is now doing only +15% vs +50% damage. Meaning, -35% damage on the base hit.
Whereas before your normal Backstab attack was 3000 from behind, and the signet would give you a base of 4500 from behind, you now only have a base of 3450.
Translated to crits with a 100% crit damage increase:
4500 × 2.5 = 11250 damage before armor.
3450 × 2.5 = 8625 damage before armor.
2625 less damage for the same hit before armor damage reduction.
Now, your next 4 attacks do 15% more damage, which in many cases is the auto-attack rotation. Assuming you’re hitting a low 500 per auto-attack, 800 for Wild and Lotus, before crit, you’re now dealing 75 × 2, 120 × 2, or 390 more non crit damage. Add all crits in there, and you’re doing 975 more damage overall for the auto-attack rotation. Meaning, the loss of damage overall is not as significant when you just auto-attack after Backstab.
Be smart, and use the Signet before C&D->Steal/Mug->Backstab->Heartseeker->Heartseeker, and you will see that 5-attack move right there is way more damage than your 50% you had before.
That is, if someone can confirm; activating the Signet, does that proc an auto-attack and waste a charge?

Amen. I never used that piece of junk before because a lot of times my auto-attack ate it up. Now the ability is WORTH equipping! (makes up for the nerf to Pistol Whip for 5 attacks!) :P

A 25% damage buff, I have no idea how one ever could complain about that.

DPS doesn’t kill people in a BS centered build – burst does. And burst means activate signet before C&D, then C&D, Steal, BS + 2x HS will all have a 15% buff. No auto-attack needed ever.
Besides, you noticed your skills are queued once you press them? Even if you do need autoattack, just hammer the 1 key (or whatever you mapped that to) a few times and you will keep autoattacking. I can still move easily with WASD + mouse with 1 one finger bound hitting ability keys.
