Almost every thief dislikes this trait – if you’re at 25% health or below, the last thing you need is an uncounted stealth, accidental attack, and forced reveal skill denying you stealth/escape.

Let me give a comparison: It’s a bit similar to the mesmer trait desperate decoy: at 25% health, you cloak and summon a clone in your position.

Why is this trait disfavored?

-There’s a couple more favorable traits to choose from in the first place.
-Same reason for the hate on Last Refuge – possibility of unwanted reveal (granted, mesmers don’t rely on stealth as much as a thief does)
-summons a clone that may not be wanted – you can only have 3 illusions out, so a new summon will destroy an existing one.

Yep. Desperate Decoy is never touched. It hurts more than help. And yet, thieves have its cousin on automatic trait.

now if you’ll argue that a free stealth = free backstab, no. You know what’s a good example of a helpful trait triggered on health? Mesmer’s Illusionary Invigoration – it recharges all of your shatter skills at a certain threshold. I have purposely let myself get below 50% before healing back up, just so I can get a free recharge on my shatter skills. As long as I’m careful and don’t let myself die, it’s super useful! I can control /when/ I want to take the risk. And there is no backlash to having a recharge on shatter skills, as opposed to stealthing and getting revealed.

tl;dr – change last refuge so it doesn’t end up killing us.

Desperate Decoy used to be good because it applied a special stealth that would go through while Revealed. However, in some builds it would be deadly.

Now, it’s just another clone.

Those traits as minors would be too OP imo .

They may need minor tweaks, but even that would be better than having a minor trait that is a direct hindrance.

True . We all agree on the fact last refuge is kitten . Funny because the idea of the trait is good : Vanish when you are low . Good on paper , sucks on field
They could just make it more active like give the trait a manual keybind for active it ( F2 for example )

The result of that would be highly strange for a minor trait. Sounds much more like a Grandmaster. Speaking of which, I think a better trait concept (though probably not for an Adept Minor) would be “Last Refuge: When you drop below 25% health, ignore Revealed for x seconds (y second cooldown).”

It wouldn’t remove the Revealed debuff, nor prevent you from inflicting it on yourself. On the bright side, Revealed Training would still work with it. On the negative side, triggering Revealed near the end of the Last Refuge duration would be dangerous.

Why not release a smoke field instead? Then we can combo finish it for stealth.
