Firstly, I doubt that it will be THAT long ranged (from the top of some apartment building shooting kilometers away). Secondly, I wouldn’t mind the rifle if we could go into 1st person snipping mode (the satisfaction of personally aiming for the head…), which again I highly doubt that’s something they will ever implement. And thirdly the acrobatic stunt being pulled in maug’s clip, she didn’t do much besides falling… since she was spotted in the first place.

The closer you are to the enemy and the more tool-less you are while killing them the more bad-kitten you are.
Bare fists > Brass knuckles > Butter knifes > Knifes > swords > bows (skill wise) > hand guns > rifles > long ranged rifles > tanks/vehicles > missiles > someone else doing it for you while you’re on another continent sipping champagne.

Like I said though, I wouldn’t mind GS either. I think the only weapons I’d be disappointed in would be torch, focus, shield, warhorn, and staff.

Axes could turn us into an amazing ball of whirling dearh.

Yeah, I have to agree, out of all the things we could get, shield, focus, torch, warhorn, and staff would be the most disappointing ones. Everything else is pretty cool.

And as much as there’s a lot of wanting for a rifle or a GS… I have this very bad feeling, a huge fear, that we will end up getting a torch….

Another cool thing that could be done with the rifle, a melee rifle to be more accurate, is having it’s stealth ability teleport you to the back of the target and thrust the rifle upwards and into the target. Oh man, the QQ’s about that would be amazing. “I just had a rifle shoved… TEEF OP”

Was Mugen a GS Thief? I normally wouldn’t care for GS but since I have the Katana it’d be fun naow. I’d still rather have Rifle, Axe or MH Torch though.

I love Charr’s Rifle Animation~ I use Fractal Rifle and it leaves a swirl of mist when he spins it around rapidly when I spam sheath/unsheath it. My Thief’s a fluffy Sylvari tho and isn’t blessed with custom animations but it’d give me a nice reason to use that skin on him since he could never get a Fractal drop he could use.

Thief/Scoundrel/Pirate. His sheath has a hidden dagger compartment. I mean, the series is pretty good, funny, and well drawn; definitely worth watching if you haven’t.

My first thief was a sylvari and I deleted him cause the animations/ voice drove me nuts. I shouldv’e just gender swapped him, but meh. I love the aggressive feel of charr thieves though (the heartseeker is a pounce for reference). I just want to add the rifle unstow to to coolness of a charr thief.

If we get rifle eh a sniper uses stealth every bit as much as a ninja so it fits I suppose. Imagine the warrior F1 from full stealth with 1200 range. 0.0

I’d very much prefer a staff. The monkey king animations are already coded and I want that.

A greatsword would be my second choice and a it very much suits thieves. Katana wielding bushido masters… Yes please.

Rifle is the closest confirmation we have currently for Thief because the trailer showed a medium tier class holding one. Since Ranger and Engi were already shown in that same trailer (and made extremely obvious) it’s easiest to assume that was a Thief.

It is a safe assumption — so far — since it remains true until ArenaNet says otherwise.

Besides, even if ArenaNet “officially confirms” something, that could also change before release — so in the end an educational guess is our best source of information.

Without knowing what the weapon will be or even the skills on it, I think it’s quite premature to cast judgement on it.

People keep talking about getting sniped from stealth, but perhaps it will work from stealth like the shortbow does with its immobilize. No one knows yet. I know waiting is hard (I don’t like it either), but talking about how dumb/awesome it’d be to have the Rifle seems silly.

Give me GS with a launcher and let me cosplay as Dante pls. :D
