Bas, I am actually pretty experienced and could coach the team / devise our strat if it’s needed. r42, 1500 tourneys played as thief, high on boards when I’m not yolo queueing. And if you prefer them not to play, I’d be willing to step down to do it if someone wants my spot.

I see you have Jumper on board, but I’m assuming he’s gonna be busy casting this. Caed or Cruuk are the only other alternatives I can think of, but no idea if they’re involved or even want to be.

If you have trouble getting a 5th thief, I can also probably pull a friend in.

We actually may need two, I got a message from Damage Dolly that he may be out. If you coach the team, than we will need 3 thieves! I haven’t seen Caed or Cruuk online, but if you want to catch them for us that would be awesome.

If you can pull in 3 Thieves than by all means you can coach the team :P!

I’ll see what I can do this evening, I might have 1 or 2 I could talk into it, and I can ask around on AR.

If you are wanting the actual players to be less experienced to encourage newer players into a tourney scene, it might be better if I coached instead. I don’t mind either way though. We can chat later in game if needed.

Every team is guaranteed at least 2 Rounds. Your bracketed game and then a consolation game with the other team that lost.

I think you are overthinking things :P. It’s not like you are dealing with top team elementalists.

No reason to go into it already assuming it’s a loss. I have a few interesting ideas for this matchup.

well I was interested in watching this. 2-3 map resets and no action over the past hour, not nearly as interested. You’ve been in maps multiple times with all your members there, just start the match. This isn’t everyone’s first rodeo

Also disappointed that this isn’t the 5 man team setup like a real tourney. 8 people allows too much for a zerg mentality to just over run points. At least in this type of match the dps from a thief might actually be useful over a 5v5 where bunkers win vs everything

inb4 the thief vs guardian, engi, ranger, and mesmer matches goes the exact same. Kind of funny that the only map where the thieves did well is the best map for thieves. Also funny that they still lost.

Stealth was useless with people flinging fireworks everywhere, blasting us all to hell whether they can see us or not XD
…And then fleeing while healing to full any time you spike someone low.

I love how people talk about Elementalist coordination, when AOEing a point requires no coordination whatsoever.

You need to coordinate single target damage between players much the same way you need to coordinate a skill chain/rotation as one player, except the former is much more difficult than the latter (and relies on multiple of the latter). And then attempt to do that burst in massive AOE and CC also.

Also Shadow Refuging Thieves Guild helps nothing, because AOE once you pop out and +2 Eles start laying it down.

Not sure why people really expected anything other than Elementalists dominating the second map. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

First map loss (Svanir steal by Ele) was my fault, straight up.

All in all, it was fun.

Dominated the Mesmers. That was definitely easier than it should have been.
Have these matches been recorded as well? I’d love to be able to watch the matches I participated in with commentary.
