Leveling a new thief...
If you have a thief already, why’d you want to level up another one?
For the fun of it, getting the experience of the new weapons (other combs of weapons)

Well you could experience those weapons with the level 80 character too.
Either way, i’d prefer to level another profession i don’t have already.
But if you like the thief to the point you want more thieves, then by all means stack ’em up!
Im just kinda stuck about what proffesion i want, because i hate leveling mesmer, necromancer seems to week leveling, and the guardian just not my type… so its a bit hard for me to know what to lvl

Necro’s levelling’s really easy actually.
Either way, you can just make a character, then play sPvP until you have enough tomes. In almost two days (5-6 hours) i’ve got 11 tomes, if you have a scroll of knowledge that’s instant level 31. And you get to try your profession extensively.
Plus if you realize you don’t like it then you can use the tomes on another one, so you aren’t bound to your decision.
what weapons did you use to leveling??? as necro?.. i dont get that with the tomes, how do you get them???
To level up quickly (non- PVP) I would advise the following:
- Edge of the Mist;
Just follow the zerg and complete event after event, note: can be quite boring
Weapons:
Thief—Shortbow (to tag as much as possible I guess);
Necromancer— Staff and ground-target Marks;
Tomes of Knowledge:

Mostly obtained with during you’re PVP reward tracks
Hope to have helped a little.
I have 2 lvl 80 thieves but I got the 2nd one most of the way there with tomes of knowledge. If you like thief and want to learn more about it then by all means level another one. I’ve used d/d, d/p, s/d, s/p, and p/d extensively in all aspects of the game, they all work fine. If you’re planning on staying with pve s/p is probably the best. S/D is a lot of fun but you have to work a lot harder to get the same results. In pvp it’s a different story though.
Cheers!

Hey guys
The second character which i leveled to 80 was a norn thief. The only weapons i used where the D/D and SB. I couldn’t find out how the other weaponsets worked out.
Now i am planing to lvl a new thief, is it even worth it leveling a new thief or what?
And could it be good for me to try use other weapons???
Here’s some weapon sets to try out that are great for leveling:
One of the easiest to level with is Sword/Pistol. After you aggro a mob, you can either spam Pistol Whip for higher DPS that frequently stuns the mob or you can just keep the blind field down (skill 5), which will keep the mob almost permanently blinded. The latter option is great for hard hitting mobs or groups of mobs that may be too dangerous otherwise.
Dagger/pistol works with the blind field strategy as well and the dagger autoattack is slightly higher dps, but you don’t get the option to pistol whip. You can leap through the blind field with Heartseeker to chain to a backstab, but this is lower DPS and higher initiative cost than using D/D to cloak and dagger → backstab.
Pistol/Dagger is also a good choice, particularly if you want to solo a really hard mob that can’t be blinded (such as a champion). You do this by shooting from range with your auto attack and when the mobs gets close, use cloak and dagger to stealth, run some distance to get at range again, then use the stealth attack for high dps. Rinse and repeat.
