Link me to a video of Pistol Whip domination
Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for. More goes over the basics of the spec with a little bit of combat at the end. Personally, I dislike S/P.

that video is exactly the opposite of what i’m looking for. its very easy to find “highlights reels” type videos where somebody cuts the clips and shows the 4 seconds of glory where they nail someone and make big numbers pop up on the screen. i don’t care about that type of meaningless bragging.
i’m hoping someone can link me to a video that is a full match of sPvP with a Thief player using the Pistol Whip burst build and doing well throughout the match, not only when they are popping cooldowns.
Anyone know of a video demonstrating skilled play with this build?
You get to swap weapons every 6seconds or so why would anyone limit themselves to one set for full duration? If i want to use the cheesy pistol whip build I generally use my daggers mainly but put 100% crit chance when I swap to my sword/pistol and 3 stacks of might. Then while I am fighting if I swap weapons I can put out a huge burst from sword/pistol and make it worse with Haste but I truly hate using these zerg builds. If you really want to see sword/pistol I can post a video I already have 2 up on the thieves forum.
Devious(DVS)
People like making the cheesy, “watch me faceroll this dude” videos & there is a big immature audience for them, so that is the majority of what you’ll find. Can’t say its much different than the highlight reel “zomg BACKSTAWB” youtubes I’ve seen.
I haven’t tried sPvP yet, but from playing Sword/Pistol in WvW I can tell you … landing Pistol Whip on a good opponent can a challenge if they’re mobile a lot (and who shouldn’t be in this game?) and STICKING a Pistol Whip on a good opponent is extra challenging. It is very easy to duck out of the animation once the tiny stun wears off. I imagine sPvP, with lower numbers of foes and I assume a more tactical style of play, people will have things off cooldown more often to escape easier too.
At the cost of kittening some people off, I’ll say that I feel getting a good death w/ Pistol Whip is harder than heartseeker heavy play simply because HS doesn’t root you like PW does. I haven’t tried a big stealth build yet … I want to for sure … but without the ability to duel friends for practice and feedback I’m a tad disheartened trying it right now.
That being said … Sword has the whole shadow-step-to-your-target-and-back thing going for it. I’ve had some good WvW fights against even, small groups of opponents (2v2, 3v3) where I enjoyed bouncing in, smacking them around, and dropping back (with the added bonus of cancelling 1 condition) to make Sw/Pi more than just “press PW, press steal, profit”.
I’ll check back in here though, I’m interested in seeing some good gameplay Sw/Pi videos too.
I personally prefer D/P and P/D builds. What happened to quotes?
Just a fun clip I got the other night.

What sword is that? Looks pretty ridiculous XD

Kinda pricey, but the design makes it so worth it.

Ah a Destroyer weapon. Yeah that would explain it!
idk if skilled but I do play a bit and the vid might be what you’re looking for
That’s in TOURNAMENTS? Bloody hell… most of them were just standing there, not trying to counter, not even trying to do a little bit of damage! That makes me sad. I was trying to get better before going into tournaments but apparently that isn’t needed XD
Yes I really dont know how teams are matched up but some sort of rankings are desperately needed, can go from awesome games to complete facerolls within the same tournament.
thanks Flamu. thats a helpful video.

Hmm… Is that dancing dagger without using dancing dagger?? Or is that a racial skill?
