So im new to a thief hes almost lvl 80 and im looking for a build i should start gearing for. Few questions is it viable to go with condition dmg sense alot of people can remove them? Would it be better to stick with direct dmg and not rely on condition ticks? I was thinking pistol dagger if condition is viable if not im leaning to sword dagger. Anyways im looking for advise from tested wvwers cause now days gear costs to much to try everything out lol. I appreciate all help i can get.

condition damage is very viable, very few people run a lot of condition removal and for those that do it usually just takes longer to kill them. bunker guards/eles should just be waved at then you should both go separate ways though. the standard p/d build is 0/0/30/20/20 taking initiative on stealth, condition removal in stealth, and healing in stealth from the shadow arts tree. acrobatics and trickery traits are more flexible. carrion gear is probably the best to start with, and it has decent power so your attacks direct damage can help you kill. I recommend a dagger main hand in your second weapon set so you are D/D when you switch weapons and keeping a short bow in your bag. I’m not the best with s/d so I will let someone more experienced help you with that. I would also recommend giving S/P a shot if you like it. the PW nerf hurt but it is still more than viable in WvW, though it tends to get looked over a lot.

Sweet thanks a ton for that. I have been using sword pistol to lvl i like it alot too just pistol whip seems like if it gets evaded ur rooted thats the only reason im avoiding it but then again its not too long of a root. Its a possability im going to jump in spvp an test it out. Thanks again

well, you are in evasion for a good part of that root, and you can use steal to teleport to your opponent mid PW. you can also roll out of it.

well, stealth on steal has issues with main hand pistol. you will just end up with the revealed debuff a lot. I would also suggest bountiful theft or thrill of the crime over initial strike, but other than that it is the standard p/d build

ive been running RainyThief D/D build and it’s working great for me as long as i play smart. You can look up his build on youtube. Im running full zerk and a mixture of valkyrie for accessories. also using scholar runes for more dmg on burst.
