Looking for Dev commentary on Ricochet please
Ricochet could be added to the elite specialization trait line if it ends up being rifle might be rifle and pistol shots ricochet adding more of a ranged gun slinger type specialization?

I find it extremely unlikely they’d add something associated with pistols into the elite specialization line. That means that someone who doesn’t have HoT will be locked out of part of the core-related skills since they won’t be able to make their pistols benefit from ricochet. Not only that, but it will dilute the purpose of the elite specialization, which should only really have things that focus on it’s new utility skills, weapon choice, and unique profession mechanic alteration, or just something unique in general (i.e. damage on chill).
I’m not sure we’ll have anyone to reply to this over the weekend, so we might just have to wait until Tuesday. I just really hope it’s been incorporated into the baseline, even if it’s just partial (i.e. only on unload). For all we know, it’s packaged with ankle shots but it simply wasn’t stated.
If they’re really going to remove it, I simply want them to state why they did so. At the moment, it just feels like they deleted it from the game without realizing it, or they didn’t even know it was there in the first place.
Great points. They had to know it was there,as of a few weeks ago it was one of new Grandmaster traits that was competing against another valuable P/P trait, Invigorating Precision. Whoever is in charge of thief changes, IMO, is being rather reckless with this particular build and play style based on what many of us have seen from these balance tweaks over the past month.
IP vs Ricochet was simply the first red flag.
Moving Ricochet into the elite spec is far from what Id consider a proper resolution. I’m sure I’m not the only one here who doesn’t want to be forced into using two ranged weapons. (pistols / rifle). Having that melee option should remain open. And, like others have said, recycling old traits in an expansion feels like a cheap tactic and one that I dont believe has been done for any of the other existing classes.
Which begs re question, did the devs actually scrap this completely? Or will they add it to the baseline?
I hope we can get a dev response soon.
P/P thieves all over the forums are saying ‘Where is Ricochet?’, hoping that it was somehow omitted or is baseline now or anything.
P/P is subpar in pvp, even with Ricochet.
P/P (alone) is adequate in pve, but with Ricochet it’s fun and effective.SB, the only AOE weapon for thieves, is incredibly boring. And was reduced in effectiveness as well.
Please comment.
Thank you.
yeah, if anything, ricochet was definitely a very fun trait and useful in pve. this just seems to be kind of a random nerf for a weapon set that already was considered not as powerful as others by many.
To be honest i like Ricochet trait for D/P extra range on shadow shot : )
I agree. Please address ricochet being removed. This trait is crucial to my play style.
Well I guess it’s gone.

We lose range, damage, and AOE on the pistols.
PvE is ALL about tagging mobs. Now the only way to do so is autoattack with the shortbow.
BORING.
I held off on pre-purchasing HoT to see if this was resolved and my main character wasn’t ruined, and now I know.
I’ll just say this one last time, in hopes.
P/P with ricochet was FUN. Unload, especially, looked cool and was fun to attack groups of monsters with.
It was not overpowered. No one ever pointed to a PvP P/P Thief and did anything but laugh.
I (we?) don’t care if it’s RNG if our bullets bounce.
I (we?) don’t want to wait an unknown number of months and pay $50 to get this functionality back. If that’s even the plan.
900 range on every ranged attack is terrible.
There aren’t even any traits for SB, and it got nerfed as well. It doesn’t even get the 5% increase to dual skills.
Autoattacking with SB to get AoE attacks is not fun.
Isn’t fun what it’s supposed to be about?
I took a long break a year ago, and this trait is what got me interested again. With it gone, especially for what seems like such a RANDOM reason. I don’t see myself staying.
Hoping this is all still a misunderstanding,
Saurak

GDI.
You could have at least added something to make up for the damage and range nerf.
