Hi Guys, Recently returned to Gw2 after a year break and decided to pick up Thief. I’ve two level 80 thief’s now and looking for some advice on the build to take.

I mainly want to be building it for the following things:

Duo/solo Roam
Flipping sentry’s and capping camps
Yack slaying/ interrupting supply’s
Decent at 1v1 and 1 v x ( i know player skill will come into this)
General pain in the kitten

D/D has been my my favorite so far but getting a little bored and would like an alternative build to fall back to or maybe change completely, depending on patch next week. S/D and P/D are the other two i am looking at i just cant decide on which is better suited to what i want to do. Also i’m not really sure on there traits
I have looked around the forums and see a couple of guides but they are a little old and i’m not sure if there still optimal as i know there have been quite updates (nerfs) since then.

Hard to get a thief to be good in roaming, 1v1, 1vx, yakslapping, and flipping camps solo.

Best I could probably state is some kind of S/P or S/D building heavily into crit strikes, going either acro or SA for the defense when flipping camps. 10-15 in Trickery if you’re going berserker.

P/D might do it for you, but I’m not honestly sure. Camp flipping with that getup might be a little slow. If anything, I’d go for carrion to speed it up a little and build like this:

P/D burst build. More focused around sustained and constant dps, not conditions. Slightly less burst than Backstab builds.

@DecieverX: Rabid gear wouldn’t help. We have no on crit traits that proc conditions, like necro or engi. Dire would be far more valuable because you can have much more sustain in exchange for almost nothing.

if you want to flip camps, you may want to consider throwing in healing signet and S/P. You can easily slot in caltrops and go to town with your sword to tank the camp.
Doing it with a shortbow takes long and leaves you vulnerable(plus with 2 caravans or extra guards, it will be a really tough nut to crack with a shortbow), S/P is significantly faster.

The only crime, turrets committed, is being good against the celestial meta.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.

Not using rabid o.o

Using Carrion (Condi/Power/Vitality) for that exact reason, as P/D already has fair attack speeds and decent coefficients on Shadow Strike. I suggest this over Dire for roaming because Dire is too slow, especially in regards to taking camps.

Hey thanks for the replies I’m trying out some of the idea’s now. I was running a 10/0/30/0/30 the last few days and seems to work well but thinking of trying 10/0/0/30/30 I like 25 point minor trait in acro (10 DMG while endurance not full) but might have to not take it and drop 10 points in SA for the extra condi clear. Only problem now is picking runes, looking at strength, eagle and lyssa currently.

Settled on 2/0/0/6/6 S/D build with runes of strength zerker and cav armor/trinkets got plenty of dodge ad evade hits pretty hard and dose not feel too squishy. Depending on food and stacks have had between 2500 and 2800 power
