Massive buff to all thief specs!
Logged my thief today. Played for a while.
MASSSSSSSSSIVE buff to initiative passive gain is barely noticeable. However, the reduction of instant on demand initiative on Signet Use is not.
Log off, back to necro. Life Force drain reduction in Death Shroud is very noticeable.
Anet: “B-b-but the initiative change is actually BUFF!!!111”
Us: “No, it’s not.”
Anet: “Sure it is! You’ll see!”

I’d rather they didn’t treat us like idiots all of the time. A thinly veiled nerf is still a nerf.
I can do my old 0-20-30-20-0 (init on stealth, quick recovery, and infiltrator’s signet) d/p dps rotation in 0-30-30-10-0 (only need init on stealth now). As well in d/d i can have blind/cond clear/and heal in stealth with ease, instead of having to give up blind for initiative on stealth. So for me it was a massive buff, I have no idea what your talking about it’s hugely noticeable to this theif.
All the builds which got buffed by this patch didnt Need the + ini anway so they are basicly the same as before. On the other Hand some builds which relied on the active ini gain got nerfed.
This was obvious for quite a while now… (ever since they released the patch notes)
Hidden Killer trait received a buff to now deal 100% critical hit chance.
Executioner trait receive a buff to deal 20% more damage and increased the threshold to 50%.

Infusion of Shadows also received a buff that returns 2 Initiatives.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.

Testing on targets you can’t crit on though? With the nerf to opportunist, pistol whip got a neutral change (at best)

Infusion of Shadows now gives 2 initiative. Thank for that buff anet! It works so much better now than back in the days when it gave 2 initiative!
I like thief initiative boost but not what they done with stamina…it regenerate really slow and i think its buged.Once u waste all stamina it needs like 2-3 sec just to start regen..

ArenaNet made a joke in our expense hidden within the notes and they called it buff.

big nerf to thief in wvw… i can’t beat mesmers now because they can actually stay stealthed longer than me now…
i’m sure i’d lose a lot more fights vs. multiples and adds due to not being able to stealth around the map as i used too…

tpvp d/p burst build got a slight buff tho with init changes because it doesnt use any init regen except opportunist…

9 months ago only maybe 5% of the thieves were really adept/pro. now its about 33% of them that are super adept pro. why? this is bc most rerolled and only the true thieves are left to play thief….. most of us really know how bad of a nerf this has been for sword and wvw/tpvp. anet will see it eventually when they say…wow lets kill that thief…easy bag.
I LOL’d when I read the “buffs” that already existed beforehand. I don’t even know how they could end up in the patch notes.

The change to Assassin’s Reward was the biggest nerf…at least for my build. The 0/0/30/20/20 regen build was never passive…it was ALWAYS active, for we had to be to keep Signet of Malice ticking that heal on us. Buff to thieves seeking to play active my kitten , this was a nerf for anybody trying to do a regen/condition build as a thief.

as someone who didn’t use any initiative traits beyond the 15 in trickery, this is a pretty huge buff. dunno how you don’t notice the increased base regen

I do, but I just barely notice it. It doesn’t seem to help at all, I’d rather have initiative on demand with Signet Use when I actually need it. Also, initiative on demand is a lot more useful than passive regen for short fights.
Can’t say I’ve really felt the difference yet. I only really run D/D and D/P, P/D when I’m feeling fruity.
So in my opinion, we now have even more traits that don’t have a noticeable effect, in exchange for a buff that doesn’t have a noticeable effect. Genius….
On the plus side, I can now HS 5 times in a row when covering ground in WvW.

I’m with you on this on. Those clutch moves one could pull off with the extra 4-6 initiative was fantastic and a great reward to pull off. I really notice the initiative in long drawn out fights, but I’m usually dry after those quick skirmishes in WvW

Probably meant Assassins Signet which was pretty much used for backstabs.
