Melee builds in PvE
blind and weakness wont save you or guardian in dugeons really. it will all come down to dodging (that thief has option to improve) or defensive buffs (guardian superior in this).
Sadly this takes guardian into the lead. Some parties will go as far as to kick a thief to get a guardian instead. Thief alone must sacrifice too much to be able to deal with everything alone (dodging, healing, condition curing) while guardian has more of both healing and defense against conditions and an added benefit of being able to provide them for party as well.
I’ve been kicked before for a guardian. I was upset at first, but after watching guardians face tank champions, I figured I would have kicked me too!
I feel I bring less dmg than others in dungeons. I can interrupt, I can blind AoE but usually ppl move the mobs from that spot, I can res allies, BUT when it comes to dmg, I feel meh. I`m still fresh to 80 and still learning the ways of the thief I guess, but that`s how I feel now.

The Thief can face-tank a champion too (S/P signet thief).
Melee as thief currently is subpar, you are better off sticking with the standard power crit damage builds, thats where we have most to offer. To melee succesfully you need to bring toughness and vitality into your armor, where you loose alot of damage, Blind is also useless on most bosses as its only 10% effective. Melee thief in Arah is totally pointless also.

Or just use Signet of Malice and stay mobile. I use mostly berserker gear and don’t have a lot of survivability issues in melee. Against multiple targets you’ll be getting enough healing from SoM to negate incoming damage, and against single targets attacks are easy to avoid. Worst case scenario there’s always S/P PW spam for some temporary invulnerability while you heal.
I’d argue that more durable classes might be easier to play, but I can’t agree that they’re more powerful.
That said, the OP likes D/P, which, as a melee build, is more devoted to utility thanks to interrupts and blinds on demand. Crit/Power may not be the most effective way to play this weapon combo since, if you’re using your skills to the best of your ability, some portion of initiative will be spent on skills that aren’t good for damage.
