Mesmers >.<
It is just you. Mesmers are the only profession that can come close to thief mobility, and the only other profession I won’t have a >95 % catch rate on, but in the end they aren’t more mobile, especially if you’re running sword/shortbow.
Mesmers is currently the most OP class. They got alot of good utility and alot of clone/stealth. Plus they got around 50% higher base HP than you.

Mesmer have the worst mobility in the game beside necros. Do you actually play one? One of the major disadvantages of a mesmer is that he cant kill people that run away. The only two options of a mesmer to close a gap are focus 5 and blink. No one uses focus in tPvP and blink is a stun breaker so you usually dont waste it on a running enemy.
If you manage to get out of range of a mesmer so he cant stun you with pistol (assuming that he uses it) you can just run away.
Going toe to toe with a mesmer is suicide as a thief it seems though.

Caltrops on dodge + sword main attack + Signet of Malice will clear the field and keep you high health for zero initiative if a mesmer wants to actually toe-to-toe with you. Mesmers that want to brawl, in my experience, are much easier to kill than the ones that try to stay at range.
Most classes can build for high mobility and the Mesmer is no exception. It depends on the weapons, traits, and utilities you bring. With the exception of probably the Guardian…
However, nobody can match the thief’s shortbow shadowstep spam. The only time thieves can ever get away from my warrior after theykitten themselves is if they whip out their shortbow.
Mesmers are probably second LEAST mobile class in the game.
There’s only 2 skills that allow us to move fast – Focus #4 and Blink. Both have 25-35 sec CD, though can be reduced a bit with traits. Still, fully traited Focus #4 has a maximum 50% uptime.
Mesmers have some very short range blinks, like Sword #3, Staff #2, etc., but those are not mobility per se. They are very short range displacements.
And finally, we have a trait that gives us +3% run speed per illusion active. This means up to +9% movement speed with 3 illusions up. Only works in combat, since illusions die when target dies.
If you want to be totally meticulous, you could throw in Portal. But that’s 60 sec CD. And it moves you between A and B, and doesn’t last long once opened (5 seconds?). Hardly a “mobility” skill.
Compare that to Engineer builds that can have swiftness 100% of the time, or your Signet with +25% passive movement, and I’m sorry but Mesmers don’t come anywhere NEAR that. Kindly stop spreading blatant misinformation.

This is correct Mesmers mobility is below avrage they are good at keeping the fight in a select area but in WvW if the person runs the mesmer is not gonna be in the best place to keep on him like glue not at all. and in the target in B-lining to a keep in the distance the Mesmer’s shatters become worthless can cant keep up.
And yes im sure we have all kill people in WvW on a Mesmer as they run or even died to one as we ran away but every dog has his day, yall. ;-)
