Fairly broad topic, so I appreciate any answers I get. I’ve been lazily playing Thief since launch and consider myself teachable but also far from inept at my main class. My one concern is that I’ve taught myself horrible habits.

I’m starting to play FoTM regularly and would like to know what the general Meta is for thieves in higher levels. Partially this is so I don’t waste infusions on full zerk gear if most experienced thieves are switching in other stat combos.

Thanks for any advice! My hope is to utilize suggestions here and incorporate a few of my own QoL thief habits so as to function properly in PUG groups at high levels.

*I created a new topic for current advice. If old threads are still valuable just point the way and I’ll remove as need be.

Well, I think it’s still 25/30/0/0/15, S/P for trash, D/D for bosses but that’s if you can pull it off. It’s been a while since I ran higher-ish levels of fractals (30+), but 0/30/25/15/0 worked well for me, allowing the occasional hit to be taken without dying. The 25 in SA makes for pretty good might stacking against bosses, while it also lets you swap in master of deception so you can use SR and Smokescreen more often.

25/30/0/0/15 all dps build is good if you are familiar with fractals. I personally run Valkyrie armor with Scholar runes and zerker trinkets/weapons.

Heres the base build I use. This assumes using Dagger/Dagger. Below are the variants I use

I swap out for different traits and skills depending on the fractal. Some bosses you can go D/D with, some are better to range.

For trash mobs I go S/P, in DA swap out (IX)Dagger Training for (X)Combined Training and in CS swap out (III)Side Strike for (X)Critical Haste or (IX)Combo Critical Chance.

If its a ranged DPS fight I go Pistol/Pistol with CS(V)Pistol Mastery and DA(X)Combined Training.

For Trickery line, I either use (IV)Flanking Strikes or (V)Thrill of the Crime.

You can go with a more survivable build like the above mentioned 0/30/25/15/0 until you are more familiar with the encounters, then swap over to more DPS.

25/30/0/15/0 is what I use. The extra dodge is invaluable imo. Even if you’re well experienced in fractals, there’s times where the extra dodge comes in handy.

I don’t really like Shadow Arts in PvE content since stealth is mostly unnecessary. I myself run with Valkyrie armor set + zerk trinkets + practiced tolerance which is enough to tank a big hit. Your survivability comes from mobility and aoe blinds (if dredge fractal, you’ll need a mix of shortbow + S/P evasion + smoke screen to live).
