Guild Wars 2

My plea to Anet: Please tinker with thief’s skills and traits so we have viable builds that don’t require main hand dagger + Shadow Arts + Deception utilities. I’m fine with being stuck with short bow as my mandatory second weapon set. I’ve learned to live with that.

But have any of the developers tried running any build that doesn’t have dagger/X+SA+Deception? I still like my sword/dagger thief, and I’ll keep playing that way because I’m stubborn, but I know that I am often a liability on my team because I don’t run main hand dagger and perma stealth. I’m not asking for multiple meta builds here, just give us multiple VIABLE builds.

I’ve run traps, signets, venoms, and combinations of all those things. I’ve tried many, many combinations of traits. Nothing even comes close to the utility of perma stealth + main hand dagger, really. Main hand dagger even has the best burst OUTSIDE of stealth.

Seems to me all the other classes have multiple viable builds.

Oh yeah, I’m running vanilla so don’t talk to me about the new HoT masteries. What we need is for the existing (vanilla) specializations and weapons sets to get some more love.

I’m talking about sPvP. Pretty much anything works in WvW and general PvE (not fractals/dungeons though).

The dagger line on thief is only slightly less sucky than the pistol main hand. The thief in general has become a +1 at best play style good only for ganking poor builds or wounded players. I don’t even try to fight half the builds anymore since I know they are too bunker to bring down. Dueling… haven’t seen a thief win against a good player since I came back a month ago.
