Most effective class in WvW ?
First of all, you are not a noob for asking about builds.
And I don’t know if troll or not, but here’s my take:
Both thief and warrior can be good in WvW, but I would also say they have their weaknesses. Thief don’t bring much to a zerg except blast finishers, ninja-nursing or venom share. Picking up enemies from the back and sides. While a warrior fit the zerg role better, with banners, might sharing etc. Roaming as a warrior are OK I guess, but it’s here the thief excell. You can engage and disengage battles to your likings, and people will hate you for that :P it requires more skill then warrior tho, as warrior have more armor, passive healing (as 99,9% of them use healing signet) and yeah, just generally a more noob friendly approach.
So what do you want? Roam or running with the blob?
I don’t have a choice, my thief is 80 and I’m too lazy to level a warrior to 80 again, so I’ll have to roam with my thief, I tried it, and died in my first 1v1,ran that long way again, died again and rage quited
a thief just killed me, popped basilik venom, shadow-step on me and ? was on floor, 2 hit kill oh my god.

Sounds like a gearing issue. In most cases Thieves cannot afford to go in full Berserker gear in WvW because you’ll either die to burst DPS like you just did, or you are fodder/free rally for the enemy in zerg vs. zerg.
If you’re running with a zerg a lot, you’re pretty much stuck to using short bow Cluster Bombs for blast finishers, and whirl finishers if you bring Dagger Storm. The up side is, you will get a lot of tags when doing so. Just be mindful that you stay about five meters behind your friendly melee train to soak the initial damage from an enemy zerg, Thieves cannot take a lot of beating and you don’t want to be the first to go down and act as a rally for the enemy.
Solo roaming you’re going to mostly play as if it were an sPvP match since you have more control over which fights you take or which ones you avoid.
Personally, I’ve been trying to think outside the box a little and have been running a support Thief play style using various stealth traits (Resilience of Shadows, Shadow Protector, Shadow’s Embrace, etc.), blinds, and regeneration. I’m having mixed results with this, it allows me to bring more than blast finishers to zerg vs. zerg fights, but I’m mostly gimping myself in the roaming department.
No comment on venom builds, thanks to Ascended gear being so expensive I’m locked into Valkyrie gear.
Ultimately however you will have to accept the current meta in WvW, where Thieves are on the least wanted side of the eight classes for WvW, but fortunately, not completely without use.

Take your thief in SPvP and learn to play him there. It’s closed quarters, really hard to survive until you learn to know there other classes and sharpen your reflexes. Dying there makes it a lot easier to rejoin the fight.
From there WvW will get easier on you…be patient…some have been at it a long longer than you have…
a thief just killed me, popped basilik venom, shadow-step on me and ? was on floor, 2 hit kill oh my god.
This sounds like a D/D burst thief. The general “1 hit combo” vs squishies is: cast Basilisk, precast CnD, then Steal in. Follow up with backstab, then heartseeker or 2… you get the story. It’s a very powerful combo vs new/unaware players, but it’s also very easy to counter this opener with even not that much experience, you just “have” to have it in mind the moment you see the basilisk.
Playing a thief – you have to know what to expect from enemies – notice in advance the weapon set on the enemy, his buffs/signets, etc, so you get the general idea what his build could be. Also, in wvw the least hp you’d want if you have less than 2.5k armor is 14k, before the server/food/applied fortitude buffs, ideally 15k.
Also most effective… even for roaming it’s a “not really”. I have roamed both on warrior and thief for lots of hours. I never lost 1v1 vs a roaming thief on my warrior. Yak killing, camp flipping, contesting and so on – I’d say both thief and warrior performed the same. The only stat the thief was clearly winning was the ability to disengage and run from angry mobs – on warrior if I saw them too late it was usually close to impossible to escape, while on thief they could be on top of me and I still wouldn’t really feel threatened.
Thiefs efficient increase on Organized non pug ed deathmatches as GvG.. With hunting down to peripheries.. With his sync ed focus party.. And more efficient than eng ranger and Mes.. And whereas those 3 classes doesnt have any respected role just mes has veil boting(if not have veil doesnt require to any organized groups in terms of effectfulness) and cant say who is most efficient in gvg but most seats goes to gua and wars to strengt melee train to let peripheries as ele necro to do their job more efficient.. This is meta in organized groups.. kitten balanced runners

Go spvp or obsidian sanctum and learn the ways of ninja. No rage quits, just try again.
Aside from fighting, try going out in WvW with groups of 2 or 3. It’s a bit more forgiving if you have friends watching your back. Also learn when to run from a fight – yes, I’m serious. Thieves are dirty fighters, and resetting fights is one of their greatest advantages.
If you don’t feel confident in full zerker, start off with training wheel gears, like Valkyrie or soldier. You can get soldier gear for karma in Orr. As you get more comfortable roaming, swap out to higher damage stats.
Warriors/Guards.
Warriors can pretty much do everything, and very decently too. Guards might lack in some areas (roaming?) though make up for their great support in groups….
Personally, I prefer a warrior over a guard, since I am free to play any role while also being pretty deadly.
Thieves only got roaming/trolling (causing QQ threads…) in WvW and small scale fights. :/ Still consider it my “main”, though only really use it to TP stuff (run/“perma”-dodge/shadowstep between TP and bank) and some sPvP (P/D bleed condi… yeah not the most optimal or best for sPvP, but I like it)… And solo-pve, since really who cares? (arguably it might be more of a handicap though…)
Depends all on what you want to do really… You should try thief+warrior at least if you have space for characters.
