Q:
My thief can't steal... What?
I believe this may be part of the “New Player Experience” that came with the update yesterday. Anet decided that new players weren’t smart enough to deal with anything except pressing “1” initially and now you have to get spoon fed all of your subsequent abilities, “F” skills, etc. every few levels.
Just keep leveling and eventually you’ll probably start some sort of tutorial on how to use the Steal ability.
It’s a shame too, as I was on the verge of starting another Alt. To heck with that though. After eight 80’s, I’d rather not have to start with the training wheels on.

“There are advanced settings in the options menu for more experienced players that will allow you to change the functionality of the content direction system. You can select to disable it if you like the way the game UI functions now, or you can select “world complete” mode, which will focus only on providing direction to areas for world completion.”

So, there should be an option to turn it off. Not sure since I don’t have a low level alt to even care about it.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
Thanks for the help. Will definetly look through the options. Before I made my charr thief I tested a asura thief before the latest patch and had all 3 skills and steal by the time I finished the very first quest. I don’t see how comboing steal with 1 is hard and finishing with 2. Hopefully I will find the option becuase now it feels like some grindy mmo to get my skills not the same feeling I had that was focused on having fun and questing.
