Need a helping hand in this matter
[LUSA]
Hi there mate! This is a build I used to use: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQJAoYlsMp8pNPx7J0PNRTBx9AmcA8uEvoFdlAA-TFSAABKqDIHtASfCAET5HAPAAkU/pn9HaTJIpAmUaE-w
It’s the not greatest build but I sure did have a lot of fun with it in WvW! It’s a 0/0/6/2/6 build but feel free to adjust it to your liking. I wouldn’t recommend getting mug in deadly arts because I’d rather spend the two points in either acro or trickery which provides a little bit more tankiness and a more useful trait. As far as PvE goes however, I don’t think I can help you with that because I barely have any experience. Anyways, hoped this helped,
Cheers!
Hi Al and thanks for helping me.
I’m gonna try your build once i’ve train myself to be better in the arts of thievery ;P .
Another question, although i know that thiefs can’t be more supportive because of their nature, is that is this build good for dungeons or we have something better, keeping in mind with the condition spec.
Thanks in advance,
Have a nice game

Hi Al and thanks for helping me.
I’m gonna try your build once i’ve train myself to be better in the arts of thievery ;P .
Al’s build is ok in general PvE and tagging alone the zerg in WvW, but definitely not for dungeons nor for Fractals. If you try to Dagger Storm in a Dredge Fractal or Grawl Fractal, don’t be surprised if your party members started to leave you without rezzing you.
Focus on single target damage and AoE blind for skills and talents – and if you really want to AoE, use a Shortbow – never bring Dagger Storm or Caltrops.
Another question, although i know that thiefs can’t be more supportive because of their nature,
I disagree. The support that Thieves brings in a party is not similar to Warrior’s, Guadian’s, and Elementalist’s. Thieves don’t buffs nor heals party members — what they do is evening the odds. Elementalist supports the party by healing missing health on someone taking damage (applying solution to the problem) — Thieves supports the party by taking out the source of damage (eliminating the problem).
Different perspectives on the term “support” that a lot of other players completely misunderstood. So you’ll get this popular (misinformed) opinion that Thieves does nothing for the party.
…is that is this build good for dungeons or we have something better,
See above reply.
…keeping in mind with the condition spec.
Condition specs are not ideal in dungeons, fractals, or even event bosses.
Why?
Mainly because of the maximum stacks and the spreading your damage for the duration – meaning, for example, instead of dealing 100dmg now, you’re spreading 100dmg by dealing 10dmg per second. The maximum stacks is shared among the players, so fighting a world boss for example will max out the stack in seconds and you would probably only have ownership of a couple of stacks, thus reducing your damage output.
However, the pro on condition damage is that the damage is not reduced by defense, instead by shortening the duration. So this is an advantage when up against a boss with high defense.
I would personally not choose a condition damage build since there are many aspect of the dungeons and fractals that does not favor condition damage — for example, trying to destroy structures.
The most useful weapon set in dungeons and fractals is S/D or S/P plus a ranged weapon (Sb or P/P). S/D is really good at stealing boons from mobs and bosses, and S/P is really good at melee AoE and destroying structures. Some Thieves really likes Dagger main hand and D/D might probably work, but it really depends on your play style and party composition.
As for builds, I highly suggest that you first understand the Thief profession, identify your play style, and then create your own build. Al’s build is a good starting point for a condition damage build, if that’s what you really want.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
